Arjen Robben

Messi scored a winner for his team when it mattered against Iran... what did Robben do against Costa Rica over 120 minutes?

He created a lot of chances and he dragged defenders away. And he converted his penalty, of course. But fair enough: he didn't score. But if we're only talking about single matches, we could go on for a bit. Messi didn't score against Belgium, and so on; Robben didn't score against Mexico, and so on. For me, Robben has been a better player in this WC: more of a constant threat, less drifting out of games. Messi has been equally crucial for Argentina as Robben has been for us, so it's kind of a pointless discussion anyway.

More of a constant threat?

Messi has scored more from less chances, created more chances than anyone in the tournament and dribbled more than anyone at the tournament.

Sums it up.

Messi walking is a bigger threat than Robben running his ass off

Calma, calma
ITT prejudiced people. Robben has been nothing short of amazing in each and every match, yes even the Mexico one, for me easily the player of the tournament so far. I bet Spain, Chile and Mexico are the same calibre as Bosnia, Iran and Nigeria.

Robben > James > Messi, soon to be Messi > Robben > James. Vamos!

BLASPHEMY!
I see no hate. Juts a little bit of understandable bias and some counter arguments.
Everyone knows Robben is a top, top player right now. We just don't want him to beat Messi :D

If you think that Robben is only a fast and strong player then you don't know anything about football, By technical qualities, i was referring to ball control and pace changing, regarding these elements Robben is the best player of the tournament (to be clear, i'm not stating a global opinion but just relatively to the WC).

Messi has been good but less constant than Robben, but yeah judging all of their carrier, Messi is a far better player no doubt about that.

About his tendency to dive, just give me more than 3 specific actions where he did that, i'm curious.
