All I'm gonna say is fuck the FIFA refs.

Besic won't be playing in Hungary much longer; the kid is good. Very good DM and someone who breaks up play well.

I don't care for his numbers. Most of them 've come in blow outs under piss easy teams. He's not worth anything close to what he gets paid by his employer. His attitude has been all wrong. Stands there waiting for the ball to come to his feet, and can't score without a perfect delivery. Takes a stroll the other times. Ibisevic may not be that talented, but he puts in a shift, and plays his heart out. Edin should just join a MLS club, so he and his gold digga woman can take daily selfies, and attend pointless galas. He's become a promotional whore, less a footballer.

This. Lazy, shitty first touch, doesn't put pressure on the opposition. I prefer Ibisevic.

#Iran attempted just 130 passes against #Argentina; the fewest made by a team in a World Cup match since 1966.

Argentina's midfield of Gago and Mascherano is pathetic.

Sabella´s fault. Enzo Perez was great in Benfica. He´s the perfect partner for Masche. Attacks, defends, high intensity, skill, great passing and he runs like hell and never stops.
Gago is a snail...a lazy one.

And considering how much sanctions have prevented Iran from playing many competitive friendlies ahead of the WC, Queiroz' men deserves high praise...A spirited effort, you had to feel for Iran

We'll see a very good game in the last round of this group Argentina-Nigeria. Both are fighting for 1st spot and neither of them wants to face France. I hope that Argentina can play on the counetrs, they are not very dangerous keeping possession.

I agree. Perez is better than Gago.
+ there is no time to wait for Gago to be in shape.
Every match is a final: have to play who is in shape right now

I think the same.
Argentina is not good enough to impose their game, keeping possession: too weak midfield.
Argentina have to base their game on the counters, imo this is the only strategy they have to win the wc.

A better referee would have given Iran a penalty.

The only stats that matters is the scoreline, and you won by a single goal scored from range in the 92nd minute. The margins were very tight, which is a commendable feat for a team full of semi-pros.

 Except it wasn't a penalty. Semi-pros ? They are all full time professionals. Turdsley hasn't got a clue like 90% of the footballing press here.

Suck in all the anti Argentina bollocks that was being spouted on ITV yesterday. Turdsley could barely hide his disappointment at the result. Mythologizing a game into something that Iran deserved to win when all the facts point otherwise.

The same **** who criticized Greece in 2004 for their approach going orgasmic over an identical Iran effort. I wonder why.

I was going incoherent yesterday that he took so long to bring on Palacio for Higuain and refused to bring on Perez for Gago. Gago made some good passes but for much of the game he was strolling around unable to keep up or impose any physicality on the game.

Perez as Coura mentions is ideal. Tackles, passes, creates even scores and runs around for a full ninety, a perfect foil for di Maria. He also would not allow Masche to be exposed because Gago is not covering adequately. Gago is in effect making Masche look bad at times.

Higgy and Gago are definitely not match fit or sharp yet but I would use Higgy for an hour then replace him and Gago as an impact player. Biglia is also a useful alternative at keeping the ball.

Thats what you call anti football.
I'm quite certain they preformed a lot better (Quireoz is crap though ) against similar level teams
however you take over Iran & you'll play the same way... that is not anti-football , that's making something with the players you have ... he doesn't have a star studded team like Argentina but they may have well took all 3 points of the header or the one on one had a more talented players taking them
It's not anti-football.. anti-football is when you have a team like Chelsea playing the same way ... but you can't take it against Iran or other low tier teams at all

I hate it when people on twitter were slamming Iran for their football last night ... they will only be happy if Iran is stupid enough to open spaces for Aguero , Messi , Di Maria & Higuain.... ffs

I speak as a spectator. It hurted my eyes watching this match, most boring of the world cup so far.

However, my feelings are same as yours.
