Alexis Sanchez

In hindsight, starting Pedro would probably have been better. He wasted the ball way to much in the start of the match, it was so frustrating to watch. He got better after a while, though, with some very nice moments highlighted by that dribling run that should have ended in something better than it did.

Didn't quite repay Tata's trust in him over Pedro last night, did he?

I'm not sure Pedro would have done much better. He worked hard and he had a couple of nice moments in what was a very tight first half. I remember one turn in particular where he skinned his man and started a dangerous attack.

That was one of the few good plays he had. He was still the weakest player of the team in the game. Some poor touches, poor passes, and some wasted good chances with poor decisions. You still have to admire his total commitment to helping the team in any way he can with his stellar work rate, but the plays he wasted could be the difference in other games.

He still just a support player out there, that is still the only thing you can depend on Alexis to bring every game, just support. Everything else, is a plus for him. IMO that is not enough.

A support player that is the lead golscorer of the team in the league? I'll take that, thank you very much.

He has very improved in all things and worked hsi ass off.. He is really great this season..

But in the big games I have never the feeling that he can do something on his own, to create danger. You always expect him to pass back or so.
Pedro is a lot more dangerous in big games I think, too not soo much but more than alexis.

I really respect alexis, but as a barca-wing starter i expect him to can do something! like neymar or I hope in the next years deulofeu.

I dont know if i am to harsh but thats my feeling.

I have this as well, despite them playing really well this season you just feel that Messi is the only player that can actually do something on his own.
Atleast until Neymar came onto the pitch, he has that vibe as well.
Iniesta as well by the way but he is not threatning in front of goal at all.

I think when neymar is fit it isnt bad to have alexis and pedro, i think it needs them. but without neymar its missing something to create.

btw.Im really excited for neymar messi iniesta fabregas and pedro/ alexis magic

We all know who would be the leading goalscorer had messi not been out. Even so alexis only overtook messi's goals just recently while he has played all those minutes. So yes, he is a support player, the team pays well he plays well, can be easily be marked out. Can not save the team or bail the team out of danger like messi or neymar can

He was let down by his first touch a couple of times, but he also did some alright things. But it was hard for our 'forwards' to create anything since City played a very compact defensive first half, can't really just single Alexis out. But imo he keeps the ball better than Pedro - sure Pedro's passing is not sloppy, but he isn't as strong or creative with the ball. If Pedro doesn't have an easy pass option and in tight space, he has a hard time working something out - than imo Alexis does better in situations like that. Anyway, for yesterdays match going with Alexis and Iniesta was a good choice.
