Thiago is still at Barca? This deal is taking way too long to go through, Rosell should ask for De Gea in return.

That isn't going to happen, we'd pull the plug on the deal.

However, Thiago is currently 1/12 odds on to join Man Utd with SkyBet now, it's almost a "when" rather than "if" he'll join.

I had a dream that Mazinho was a Sith Lord and that Thiago and Rafinha were his apprentices, then some Jedis came and managed to take them down in some beautiful night mountain scenery, and the last scene featured a narrator saying "And peace and prosperity was finally established in the Galaxy".

Honest.

This saga is taking its toll on my mind.

:lol: And I thought I was the only one who has effed up dreams about football.

Looks like the deal could end up being £27M + taxes.

I'm reading where Thiago is going to make £6M a year, that would put him on about £150,000-a-week salary. (I may be wrong on the per-week salary.)

Are Manchester United really this desperate for a midfielder?

It would be 18m euros release clause plus taxes, which if we get it right, similar to bayern, we wont have cough up for, the deal is also in euros not £. Where did you hear £27m plus tax? Do you have a link for that? that would make the deal £40m. The max we would have to pay is 27m euros plus tax included which would be £22m, its 50% spanish rate. Still a bargain in my opinion, if you factor in that you will buy him back in a few years for double ala fabregas :p

The deal is in Euros, you're right I read it wrong. It would still be 27 million euros plus taxes. His salary per week is in Euros too. Why is United going to pay an unproven talent so much? Are they that desperate?

You do know Arsenal offered Cesc a professional working contract at the age of 16 when we weren't allowed to due to Spanish Laws regarding workers under 18 right? There's nothing funny about the under-handed dirty tactics used by these English clubs (especially Wenger) to poach talent due to manipulating the laws to their favors. I fail to see the humor in it.

IF its true that Press Association are reporting this then id say its true, ive never known PA comment on anything that wasnt 100% legit they normally only ever post about deals that have or are imminently happening that they are absolutely certain of, not seen where they've reported this though, anyone?

Not only Wenger, but Rodgers also deserves a mention here.

I dont agree with the youth policies, of course i dont, was being facetious probably not a good time. Should be the same for every country, maybe it make take a step forward the closer europe becomes.

As far as i know, the 27m euros comes from the taxes added on, at least most sources say this much. 18 from the release clause, plus 50% spanish tax at 9m makes it 27, i think we are trying to negotiate a deal in the middle of that with add-ons similar to our Phil jones deal, likely the cause of the holdup, as barca do not get the 9m it goes to the government.

Yes, really desperate for a player like thiago, its fair to say we almost have no midfield, i think that is what may sway his decision. We have made a lot of commercial deals recently, and income is at a record high - we have also been scouting him for close to 3 years, so if the club thinks he is worth it who am i to question it? He may get some of that income with image rights too who knows what the details are?

Edit: Salary in euros too? So around £90,000 a week? We pay more than that to ashley young, its the going rate for talent these days (though young is deadweight), i believe i read hazard is on close to 200.

Really? May i get the link? If its true yeah i am kind of shocked by that, thats what we are currently paying RVP/Rooney. Especially as it seems we are the only ones seriously in for him. No wonder barca wont match that offer, how could they match continuous playing time plus a salary like that for a 22 year old?

As i stated though hazard is on the same, if he can reach his potential and the club believes he is worth it, then shoot.

Thiagos potential wages with us have been going up and up in the spanish press for about a week now, it started at 4.4m, then went up to 5 and 5.5 now its reached 6, now either they havnt got a clue or are doing this for a reason, im taking this as a good sign as im hoping it means its a bitter reaction to losing the player and a club leak to the press to turn the fans on the player and take the heat off the club for losing him, if that does happen, make it appear all about money by highlighting and inflating the numbers.

I think the more negative the press in spain are certainly the local Barca press the better for our chances of signing him oddly enough, the reference to direct hoofball was also a recent attack, sounds like things are happening.
