Vitor Roque

That's a fair point having watched it again, but to be fair lots of mistakes and comical goals occur in Europe too. But I know what you mean.

I don't know of Roque much, never followed him, @Messi983 knows infinitely more about him than me. Just saying the video was nice.

Fair fair. And Pott calling kettle harry with our defending under Flick at times too.

He will turn into a good to very good striker. Probably gets another crack in Europe too in a year or few.

For right now atleast it seems, better to lick your wounds and go back to Brazil and re-establish himself, then sit on the bench and rot like Endrick is doing.

Yes though I would say Flick's comical defending is more a byproduct of his style than really the players just being shocking defensively. Some teams play defensively and still concede lots of goals.

I will pay more attention to the lad then. Hopefully he does well.

Definitely. It's a by product of the pressure style.

I know from your Ricky Hatton comment that you are not boxing fan, but for an analogy, it is akin to a pressure fighter not giving a superior opponent time to settle into shots. You take the risk of being vulnerable to some licks as you come in to play the perfectages that even if the opponent manages to get one through, they are unable to set for full damage. And as such, you will in most cases manage to overwhelm them.

Inigo Martinez made a fair comment about this too, in that any small mistake had the potential to be a goal. So the downside is the mental fatigue and sustainability of such a style and having that in the back of your mind.

Fuck me, coffee break and I've gone off on a wild tangent  .

Have a good day mate.

No that is all very true and makes a lot of sense. There's definitely a psychological aspect at play as the pressure and toll to not concede a goal is higher. There's greater demands on the Barca team as a whole defensively because they're expected to be so risk-taking and play so high. Hence, it is a self-fulfilling prophecy and might actually lead to goals conceded because of the worry of the style leading to more mental fatigue (as you put it) and mistakes.

Whereas a solid defensive side like Mourinho's Chelsea are always comfortable with their low block, more rigid and solid style.

I have done work this morning so gonna go down the cinema in the afternoon. Watch the athletics and shower first. Please Have a nice day.

He had 12 goals in 25 league games in 2023, now 8 goals in 20 games and he is in a better team now.
Copa libertadores
2023: 4 goals in 8 games
2025: 3 goals in 7 games

If you look at his stats, he's no better than before he went to Europe, even though he's older now. He has potential, yes, but it's not higher than he was in 2023, and if he went to Europe now, he'd probably fail again. Give him time, maybe he'll make it after all.
