Looks like they are spending some money after all.

They will sign 23 yo GK Luiz Junior from Famalicao for 12m...

On the agenda of teams like Aston Vila and despite his youth, in the 20/21 season he made the jump to the first team of his current club, and since then he has already accumulated 140 performances in the elite. At 1.93 meters tall, Luiz Júnior is the goalkeeper who has saved the most penalties in recent seasons in the Portuguese championship. Additionally, he ranked second on the list of U-23 goalkeepers with the best save percentage in Europe's top seven leagues in the 2023/24 season, with a successful save rate of 75.47%.

... and a 21 yo striker Thierno Barry from Basel for around 15m.

Another signing, CB Logan Costa from Toulouse for 17m.

Would say they had quite a productive summer. Losing Sorloth sucks but overall I think they've improved or at least rejuvenated the team. Without European football this season they should be serious contenders for top 4.

Ligue1 Villarreal.

I love the way this defender effortlesly pings his long passes. Lovely technique. Other than that, let's see if he can defend.

Striker has 5 in first 3 games. He keeps that going and he will be up their with the league best strikers Sorloth and Roque.

They will reportedly sign Juan Bernat. Looks like Pedraza is injured again after missing most of second half of last season.

They sold Baena to Atleti for 45+5m and Thierno Barry to Everton for 35+5m.

It's really a shame they can't keep best players despite qualifying for the CL.

Let's hope they will reinvest this money and bring 4-5 more quality players besides Moleiro.

E: Rafa Marin is reportedly a done deal, loan with a 15m buy option.

Also, expecting an Etta Eyong breakthrough season.

Yeah, Villarreal is always up to some shrewd signings so interested what they have prepared for this summer but still with qualifying for the CL you would hope they could keep the team together and add a few more pieces. In other words hopefully they would sign Moleiro to push Denis Suarez out of the team and not to replace departing Baena. But reality is La Liga teams except for the big 3 just can't operate like this. Thanks Thebes I guess.
