Marcus Rashford

I've read that Man Utd need to sell him due to their PSR rules since he counts as homegrown. Same with Garnacho.

Doubtful they will accept a loan, but we'll see.

United loaned Sancho, Antony and Rashford.

They will loan Rashford again if they don't sell him.

Let's hope we sort out our transfers early and don't linger on this like Barca usually do.

Then later in the window we can come back to Rashford for depth, if it suits both parties.

Think about it like this. If we don't go for a winger this year. And Rashford works well, we can buy him for cheap next year. We are going into this deal hoping he will, and most likely he will. If they re looking around 30-40m now, he probably can be had for cheaper or the same next year. Wouldnt you be fine paying 30 if he played well?

Now, we can save this LW money 50m odd, and use it next year to go for Isak. Who can also play LW. So Raph/Isak/Yamal/Ferran and the LaMasia kid as a RW backup, should be enough for 3 spots and a CL contender front line.

So, we get him on loan, in hope we save the money for the next hole that will be jn the team next year?

Ok, but what about thinking it the other way? In summer 2026, we will have LW and CF problems that beeds to be addressed. 2 issues rather than one.

I mean, if we are getting Rashford and putting money in addressing ither issues like GK, fullbacks, I am ok with it. But since Deco said we aren't doing it, going for the one position they identified as weak leaves a bitter taste

My point was, if we can get Isak next summer 2026. He plays that Left Forward position quite well. Not ideal but we can use him and Ferran as a LW backup. Its doable.
Your CF position is solved by Isak and Ferran.
LW is somewhat mitigated by having Raph, Isak, and Ferran. Not ideal, but at least we will have a better player than Ansu.
We could also do a loan deal similar to Rashford again next year. Or who knows, United would be fine letting him go for cheap.

For your last point. Yes if we really are not looking to strenghten LB or GK this summer, while just getting Rashford will not be a good transfer window for us. But I think Deco was lying, us getting linked so heavily with Garcia is the proof. We will for sure get a GK and a backup fullback.

Rashford for me was the Aubamyeang of the winter market. Someone who as an opportunity does the job for half a season but isn't the guy you fixate on signing.

Hopefully it stays that way and he remains a late market loan option.

Buy option does not hurt anyone. IT's an 'option'

Besides, deals with no option can backfire if the player plays well for us they will ask way more

Even if it's an option it's much to dangerous with a sporting department like ours. Maybe he'll have 2 good months and we'll be stuck with him for 5+ years.

Players who have the desire to win and improve dont just acquire it out of thin air. It's a part of them. Their workrate is part of who they are. Lazy, disinterested players like Rashford and Leao dont suddenly change who they are because Flick gives them a pep talk. Flick can augment, supplement a desire that is already there, he can't create it.

I expect either will hustle a bit at first, then slowly stop pressing and working as hard because it's just not who they are. I could be wrong, but I would choose not to bet on them.

You can't be more off than that

Rashford pressed already at Aston Villa and worked as Emery asked.
It has been explained so many times already: the guy wanted out of United, he had lost any interest to play football there and that showed in many many aspects, not only pressing

A little bit of pressing, running and he will be ballon d'or contender next season with all the g/a and trophies

He is not that dumb to miss out on this immense career opportunity. I seriously think we won't have problems with this. The man is hungry

I would be against the signing of Rashford if he was a unique case within United, however as everyone has seen, with the exception of Bruno Fernandes every player who has played for them in the past decade looks much worse than their true level.

That team is literally cursed, so I won't judge Rashford based on what has gone on with United.

I guess that's what people do in your world. They suck ass at their job and are lazy, then when they apply to a new one they say oh dont listen to all my bad references...I was just really sad there, not lazy 🥹

He's 28 in October, he's not a kid anymore. I'm not convinced he's a changed man after half a season at Villa, sorry.

That's basing an important decision off emotion and a big "what if". There are plenty of players who are dumb and throw away big opportunities.

We can get someone cheaper, younger, hungrier and better. A favorable loan with them paying most of the wages, yea sure, maybe...but I rather not take a punt on someone from United. We just got over all the negative, beta ass energy at our club. We dont need to bring in some from another.
