Marcus Rashford

Some perspective is needed here.

95% of the people in here are cautious about Rashford and are hardly doing cartwheels for him, but he has a few things going for him as mentioned by a dozen people now.

1. He's experienced and has played in big matches before and did so last season with success. We need someone who can actually be useful as a rotation option/competition. We DO NOT need another young, inexperienced average talent. Unless we're signing an elite player or an elite talent then there's no point.

2. He's the right profile. Decent dribbler + absolutely rapid with the added bonus of being able to play as a striker if needed. So his versatility is a plus too.

3. It's a loan in a situation where the club are counting pennies to register players. It gives Barca the flexibility of not committing long-term to a player and possibly sign a winger next summer that's better, or maybe even sign a super talent if someone breaks through.

4. Hansi Flick by all accounts like him. Now I'm not a big fan of letting managers get their guys because they have tunnel vision, but I'll give Flick the benfit of doubt here.

The worst part about Rashford is he tends to be entitled. This shit doesn't work if you don't prove it every week at clubs like Barcelona, especially under a manager like Flick. He hasn't won anything of note in his career to date. He'd better be humble and work like a horse.

He'll get much better conditions than at United, but this comes with even more pressure. Some players think Barca is easy because of the football quality, but it is not easy at all.

You're welcome
I have loved the idea of him here on loan ever since the first rumours.

That is even with me having witnessed his diabolical performances at Man U.

Not sure why people whine and blame Deco... as if Rashford would cut down his wages to 10m gross... no one does that.

It's not a brilliant deal, but a realistic one. And lets be honest we were all out of options.

Like a player or don't, that's fine. I am on a fence re. his chances but still waiting for someone to back up a claim of this deal being good on the books.

We can at least clear that one out of the way.

He will have a chance to show it on the field. If he has good performances, than he'll immediately be worth the loan and we will switch the question to wether we buy him for good.

25-30m is not a lot if the sum is accurate.

To put it in perspective: Olmo is a tad more expensive on the books per year and we own him and could sell him still and recuperate portion of investment.

With Rashford we pay premium price, albeit a year, and own nothing.
