I think my username is self-evident but I can see how some westerners might not be as familiar. I'm actually more relaxed about such matters now than when I first joined in 2009. I was the first active female poster and initially had to navigate a lot of sexism on board (so the current predicament is minor). I remember there was a detective thread in Caffe Catalonia where boys would assemble to investigate if I really was a female given my feisty temperament and serious football posts. lol Gradually there was a degree of acceptance and respect which paved the way for other female members having a relatively easier induction (and I say that with utmost humility). Some of them even became mods but for some reason Bojan always overlooked me for the mods role :cautious: Perhaps because I was friends with some "heavyweights" of the forum he didn't get along with. He's also gone on to become more composed and laid-back. The only other veterans I recognize is Jamrock, ZenI, and a couple of others that escapes my mind for now.

This forum has had some great female members (Petra, XMGirl, Maria, Suckabov, Flavia, etc.) and I miss them sometimes. I'm sure they have moved on in their life but still continue to browse this forum anonymously. I have been absent from this forum for some stretches of period but unlike others I can never really go away perm as this place holds memory of my late friend Petrinha. So it will always remain special to me.

Sorry for going off-topic. But you all got a dose of interesting trivia from the past. :antonella:
Yeah I respect women's views on football - anatomy doesn't dictate whether a woman can know football or not, and plenty women talk more sense on the game than plenty of men. I am glad you were finally accepted and I am really sorry you had to put up with all that just for being female.

It would be good to have more women on here. But I guess it's a self-fulfilling prophecy - women don't feel that comfortable in what are seen as male spaces. It's a shame because I bet there are a lot of Barca women supporters who'd love to chat on here but are afraid their gender will be held against them if they argue with someone.

I see you mentioned that Petra girl - I have read through some of her thread in Caffe Catalonia. A real shame what happened to that girl with her dying unexpectedly. Before my time but she seemed like a nice person.

One thing that might be good is that he seems to WANT to be at Barca (if reports are true), highlighting he might be less likely to start his antics if he is a sub or not getting a game over Raphinha.

There's a fine line between confidence in your own ability and arrogance/entitlement, and I feel Rashford has crossed that line a few times. But if he can believe in himself but not to the extent he thinks he has a god given right to start, he could theoretically be an asset.

As I said, there's pros and cons to him coming. I am not much of a fan of his in general as a player, but a good point that has been made is that Flick this season extracted the absolute maximum out of attackers, which obviously helps Rashford.

The only question is if Flick tries to tighten up defensively (I don't think he will as he's very attacking, but he might) will the attackers suffer as the team will be a little more defensive? There needs to be a balance struck there.

It's incredibly rare to get a player on loan as high profile as Rash, without a mandatory clause. That's a huge W in itself. I mean, what other LW could we have loaned?

Also, in regards to his attitude I don't have any worries. Barca isn't United, where you can play shit for 10 games and the fans will chant your name in the 11th when you score a tap in. He will need to earn his stripes here. No sulking or bitching. He knows this and he will break his back for us, just as Auba did.

If nothing else this is a W because it ends the pathetic rumours of 80m Diaz or 70m Leao. Either of those would have been the true disaster. Pay cut is another positive.

I fully expect us to punt him back to Utd next season, but in the small chance he is a huge success, he will dig his heels in for the permanent move and we should be able to bring that 35m clause down a fair bit towards the 20-25m mark.

Given our financial status, there really wasn't a better option.

Aye I said it the other day that Diaz or Rashford doesn't move the needle much more than the other, but Rashford is the better financial package and lower commitment, so he'd be the better option in that respect.

If it was the other way about financially I'd be saying try to sign Diaz. But that isn't the case. I do think Diaz is the slightly better player but not significantly so that it warrants a much bigger financial package for a club with Barca's financial problems.

I see what you getting at, but if rashford is used for Lewa, where does that leave Torres, who's shown this season that's the only position he offers real value in.

Let's say no signing. Then it will be Dro LW and Virgili RW as the B team projects who train with the A team, and make the squads when we need 20 minute cameos of dribblers against low blocks. Probably just Virgili as that 6th man actually.

Then it means for our front 3 it is Lamine, Raphi and Lewy as our starts with Rashford and Ferran as rotations.

Everybody will get minutes provided Flick manages his squad better than last season.

The squad is actually smaller on the attacking front (unless we include Virgili as part of it) since we lost Ansu and Pau Victor (well he should surely be off now) and added just Rashford.

But in terms of quality and versatility, and Flicks trust, we should be improved.

Back to the original question. Raphi can play RW.

While Ferran and Rashford can both play LW, RW and FW.

Lastly, tail end of last season, I've seen enough of Fermin going to the Left wing to know that in a long season, that Ferran and Rashford should both get solid minutes.

Relieves the pain of this disgusting loan abit.
Need to hope Rashford himself is happy with that and understands his role (assuming that is true as Twitter can lie, I'd bet that is fabricated).

If Rashford is seen as a super sub and rotation player, and I would think that is how Flick likely sees him as he seems loyal to Raphinha, you have to hope he doesn't kick up a fuss as he's done it before. But he seems to like Barca more than United now (lol) so he might be seeing himself as a part of a real team and happy to be a rotational player.

Btw @jamrock , the problem we still have is that Rashford, Raphi and Ferran are all still basically the same kind of player with varying degrees of quality.

We still haven't amended the issue of having a Lamine creative relief, which was the initial goal of the market.

I also wonder why the media has been so quiet with Toni this year. If he doesn't make the Asian tour then that will confirm for me, that the Dro talk more than anything is this years version of him and to sell the illusion.

Said it a few times, but don't think Rashford can play as a CF (at least not to a good enough level that Barca need). Maybe as a fluid three, but not as a hold up player like Lewa has been in his prime.

His best position by a mile is LW. I guess he can fill in at RW too but he loves cutting in and shooting which he can't do on that flank.
