Losing the love of the game

I could write a trademark long, elaborate and intricate post expanding on why, but not in the mood.

It really boils down to getting older (I am 43), players being young enough to be my kids rather than old enough to be my dad. Learning more about the world and the unfairness financially. And being supplanted by other stuff like my increasing love for film and books. Ironically film stars are part of that grossly overpaid set too but still.

I still love playing, even though I am not as good as I was. There's very few better feelings in life than going by four players and scoring, or setting up a great chance for someone else, and impressing people on the sidelines. But I find myself increasingly distracted while watching games now, and mainly focus on Man United games (as I am an ABU and derive pleasure from other teams scoring goals against them) and also international tournaments. Int. tournaments are like a festival and a bit of a throwback to pre Bosman football as you cannot just transfer in the best players.

I still see the World Cup as something supernatural. Something that is the pinnacle of every player's career. I grew up fantasising about growing up to score a hat-trick in the World Cup Final and I still daydream that sometimes. But the World Cup - as incredible as it is in prestige - is only every four years. Those other 47 months aren't the same.

Football just feels so so insignificant in the current climate.

Anyone else feel a diminishing passion for the game?

Yeah tru but the problem is we've seen the best of the best players at the end of 90s and beginning of 2000/2010s, there will be never a better era of football. These days player quality has decreased so much, except Lamine i dont see a talent who you like to watch. Also another point which makes football more boring for me is that players dont want to sacrifice their life for football anymore, you saw a real passion to football from the older players while the kids these days enjoying more the fame they get than the opportunity to go down into history.
I mean when your team looses fans are more upset about the defeat than the player who will right after the loss think which chick he should write next.
Ofc, this doesnt apply to every football player but i dont think its a coincidence that the player quality decreased so much. Siu.

It's a change in society and technology that is reflected in the new generation.

Would things be different if the internet had not been created?
