Funny that xavi is making the magic square work for us but Parreira could figure it out with Brazil at the 06 world cup, random thought that just came across my mind.

Needed a gavi type to replace kaka & a mobile striker to make it work.

Team suffered from the same thing we are right now, one specialist so he couldn't do a 4-3-3 which would have gotten the best out of Ronaldinho.

Anyways random thought over.

Gavi struggles big time to play CM he has been a AM with freedom his whole time at Barca and it shows.

Pedri could play anywhere. Would even be a very good DM probably as reads game so well and has range of passing

Did you miss his ball recoveries stats? That's the opposite of what an AM usually does. He's used higher up because of his insane engine basically. As he's the only player with the passion and the workrate to come back in midfield if caught upfield.

Kid is everywhere, but his best self and his most elite attriubute is recovering balls in midfield.

Gavi and Pedri both have a better place deeeper than as AMs imo. Landing a top LW and hunting for a Lewa top replacement would be best bet for me. More Rijkaaard/Lucho Barca than Pep similarity so to skeak.

Especially since Xavi showed he can set up a low block impressively well imo.

Unfortunately, both Rijkaard and Lucho sides were built with elite attackers, which today would cost hundreds of millions.

Yea gavi I think can play deeper, he's be a perfect box go box midfielder in a double pivot as he grows & matures, the work rate & stamina is already there.

Can't see pedri being anything put a iniesta type Midfielder is talent is too much to waste it playing deeper, has to be as close to the oppositions goal as possible to unbalance defensives.

Agree re a mobile striker to replace lewa long term, think that's why the club seems to be banking on V. Rorque

It isnt.. he never stops pressing and easier from further up.

You think those stats are from him at CM?

Has has been AM all season more or less even when in a three.

Thos stats look to me like him being classed with more defensive players when he isnt.

He has never been a CM or a box to box player and plays nothing like one really.

Yea exactly, he'll explode once he drops deeper & matures.

Pedri doesn't have any place in this team if you can't form a midfield centric team. He's not physical enough for me to function in a top heavy team. So we need to figure out if we want a midfield centric team, or a high-workrate midfield to feed balls to an elite front 3.

Due to finances, I'd say we're closer to securing a dominating midfield like a Spain 2010 type of stuff, and frustrate the fuck out of the other teams by low scoring games with a lot of control, and not many chances.

We can't get close to a Pep Barca team who had both, and could choose from a supreme luxury position. We need to compromise in some way.

Pedri easily has a place in this team and in a balanced midfield.

Gavi si the one that will struggle to find a role if doesnt develop.

Pedri would get into any midfield in the world.

Right now as a young player gavi is playing where the team needs him to gain experience while helping the team, where he's playing now is no indication of where he'll play in 3 years.

He's no AM, compare his game to the likes of Felix who's an actual AM in the modern game of wirtz and it will tell you as much.

He's going deeper as he gets older.

Same can be said about Pedri. Both are used higher up to compensate for the team's light attack.

No not remotely similar.

Pedri is one of best CM/AMs in the world with range of passing and understanding of the game.

He plays more of a AM role more often as he is by far best AM in the team and not team plays without a more attacking mid.

Gavi is not contributing that much to attack... FDJ and Busi creating better chances than him since Pedri out.. and Roberto/Kessie etc getting more goals assists.

Perdi's level drops a lot with the upgrade of the opponents. He's amazing vs lower paced teams, but as the intensity of the game reaches a high level, Gavi copes with that much better. Pedri's body can't deal with it witout getting some sort of physical discomfort or even worse, injuy.

Maybe he will toughen up with age, or maybe not.

Only if he ups his physicality a lot. Then he would start instead of Gavi. As it stands, not for me. He's the most difficult player to fit.

No. He starts now and Gavi is not some superior physical player either. Despite being aggressive.

Pedri is far ahead of Gavi currently.

Pedri has outplyed Reals mid more than once, been best mid on park away to Inter and away to Bayern and away to PSG in previous seasons. Can add Juv to another team he dicked on.

Was far beter at WC than Gavi and for Spain where was better than Kimmich in a game where Gavi made something like 9 passes...has been better than Veratti etc as best mid at Euros.

You keep stating he struggles when in fact he doesnt and Gavi has barely had one top game v a top team other than away to Real when more or less a second striker.

Pedri is levels ahead of Gavi currently.

Yea but don't think it's a coincidence the likes of roque, yamal and emery were at the bottom of the page in the last 4.

It is alphabetic, not coincidence. If you read the full list it will be an easy observation mate. No one will put Andrey Santos as 49th and Angelo ahead of him. Let's be real. Never mind Gavi was something in the 30's too by your logic.
