Espanyol wouldn't even qualify as a "rival" had it not been for politics.

Absolute ass club. Barely won shit throughout their history unlike other city rivalries like Real Madrid - Atletico or Liverpool - Everton.

They have a solid numbers following them. It's a bit peculiar.

Exactly. Espanyol fans have a lot of hate towards Barca but it's not a rivalry. They are just angry.

Rivalry needs to be competitive in some level at least.

It's a good sign that club thinks of the future and that they don't hesitate to replace MAtS. Kudos also to Flick for making a good decision rather than defending a fellow German. No time for Amigo decisions anymore.

Still need to see how it turns out, but doubt Joan Garcia will join without being #1. They must seen have something in him when they spend 25M on a GK.

Wonder if there is more to MAtS' injury that club moves on so quickly or they just lost trust in him. I mean MAtS wasn't undisputed, especially under fans, but still did not expect the club to replace their captain so ruthless.

Feel bad for him as he is a likeable guy, but likeable doesn't win you the CL. But damn, what a shitty year he had privately and in his professional career.

I personally think his knees are completely shot.

Even before his bad knee injury this season he's had a history of knee issues and had even a procedure done a few years ago because he's been playing through the pain.

Not surprising because he's a goalkeeper but his issues started to date back well over 10 years ago almost and that stuff just kept piling on as he got older.

Didnt we pay a similar amount for The Terrorist in 2014?
If I remember correctly, it was 15 or 20m plus variables?

Some insane projecting, mental gymnastics and wishful thinking in here.

25M is not a big amount these days even for a GK. I know most of you have the memory of a frog but we did sign GKs for those amounts while Ter Stegen was here. Remember Neto for 26M or Cillesen for 18M?

That's the whole thing with Joan Garcia, he is a good market opportunity. All due respect to him just finishing a good season, but he's no GK wonderkid. If he does well then we have our long therm Stegen replacement. If not, we can sell for a profit to an EPL club.

These fantasies of him coming in straight at No 1 are based on nothing but your wet dreams of seeing Ter Stegen humiliated.

Talking about how Flick is a genius with no aligiences

You're welcome
Is he signings for Madrid. LaLiga promoting him way too much.

Either that or Thebes is setting us up to the ultimate blueball where we don't have the salary cap to ever register him.

#RevengeMotherfuckers
More likely trying to bump his price

Basta yaaaaaaa, Cabron ! y Bona nit 🥂
They are not buying the best GK in the league last season just to sit on the bench, so they can play a GK who has been shit for at least 7 years and last season had the worst injury of his career at 33 years of age.

OR ARE THEY? Find out whether Kris Jenner decides to pick Ter Stegen or Garcia, on next week's Keeping up with the Catalans.

Cillessen was signed for 13m and Neto was a money laundering deal.

Fact is Mats has always been protected and undisputed. All the GK signings have been signed as pure backups so far.
