Joan García

DonAK

President of FC Barcelona
Joan García will meet with his agent this week to carefully consider his options. He hasn’t ruled out Barça and wants to choose the best path for his career and national team hopes.

He is clear that if he leaves Espanyol, it won’t be to go out on loan — he wants to join a big club to fight for the starting spot. Despite lacking European experience, he’s confident in his ability and fully ready for the challenge.

Barça knows they must pay his €25m release clause to sign him — and they’re ready to do it immediately.

Via Roger Torello, Mundo Deportivo.

Makes sense tbf. Any GK we sign now or next year will not accept to come unless they are either guaranteed a proper competition for the #1 spot or the spot itself.

And with ter Stegen as the captain and the GK coach being his close friend you have to question whether such a process will be fair.

Sooner or later the club just have to make a call on ter Stegen or/and de la Fuente.

I'm sure we could have gotten him but we won't because we prefer terorists, of course the best GK in the league won't go to some loans. Another Deco masterclass...

If we don't give him an asinine option of loaning him out. Of course, he will choose us.
There is no better option than us to him.

Everything is just so obvious and logical if we had a real sporting departement. Buy Garcia, Tek stays as backup and we sell MATS who will want to play before the WC and will agree to leave because of that. We would have a much better GK pairing with lesser salary.

Arsenal will be a very appealing destination after just winning the Champions League.

They are going to milk the F out of their first ever win and in 20 years time they will be like, "what is a women?, is there any difference between mens football and women's football? Did you know that Calafiore was playing that match?".

For sure Joan Garcia goes there now, and grows his hair. Or maybe not, maybe he just cuts it short, dyes it blue, gets some tatts and publically munches carpet.

Loan proposals are directly tied to our promise to ter Stegen of a starting spot next season.

It makes no sense to sign a new goalkeeper and keep Tek, only to loan out your best option. No one worth our attention would join just to be a guaranteed backup. They would want a fair chance to fight at the very least, which doesn’t seem to be the case.

In fact, the club made that quite clear to Tek as well. In one of his interviews, he mentioned how aware he was of his role for next season, should he choose to stay.

He would. All these guys now should be very thankful to Xavi, Alemany...

All I want is judging goalkeepers by merit, not status but we don't do that here.

Ter Stegen isn't going anywhere this summer. No one is buying him after a potential career ending injury at the age of 33, while giving him a similar contract.

The idea of selling MATS is more of a fantasy than reality.

I am sure Joan knows if he goes to us or Arsenal (unless the Raya to Madrid rumours are true) that he is going to compete for a starting spot, and it is not guaranteed.

Only Villa with Dibu looking to go should he be guaranteed to start.

Is that a better proposal than Barca and competing with a crocked Stegs?

Probably not. And there are no guarantees Villa will be a CL team in the next year's either with Newcastle money and Chelsea project getting that CL money to continue their whatever they do.

Probably no one would pay much for him but he would have suitors if he would be avaliable for free. The club should make clear that he won't be first choice and I think he would leave. He waited his whole career to play for NT.

He has 3 ore years as one of the highest paid GK in the World without anything indicating to the buyers he could be close to that.

Lenglet has been available for free for years, same with Fati and it only lead to loans.

For 90% of players at that level, salaries are the higher cost of tranfers, being Free doesn't matter much.

Ter Stegen ain't leaving that contract to go to Saudi or some mid level club who isn't paying him anywhere he is getting or giving him better chance of starting at NT.

That's why we should use the leverage of the World Cup. If he wants to stay, sit him on the bench/stands and he won't ever play in a WC.

But we are pussies like with Fati and won't do that.

There is no World Cup leverage worth most of your salary in the next 3 years while no big club will give you starts. He is better off as Barca backup than going to some midtable German club.
