System and philosophy needs some work also. I don't want to ever see us exposing ourselves like idiots when match is in our control. Ever again under Flick. That would be a disaster and would make us look like clowns.

Flick football is very nice, but it's missing that pragmatism that all top managers implement at key moments. With that part missing completely, it will be tough for Flick to reach his peak.

And by peak I mean obviously winning CL and dominating the best teams. We failed this season vs Inter on the big occasion. So, if he is as ambitious as it gets, he will look to correct it. This can be done by signings in defense (top tier defenders deal with higher risk situations better than average defenders, rookies, or players with mental problems, which is basically our backline when Kounde is missing), but also by the manager.

This is the season of high polishing. The main theme is set, but some bolts and screws need some tighter fitting. What has me a bit worried is that Flick might be completely oblivious to this, or extremely confident in himself. Otherwise, we'd be chasing some CBs and fullbacks in this summer.

Improving the GK was due to happen, but we didn't lose vs Inter because of Scszesny, but because of fullbacks and CBs that were out of their depth at that level.

So... either invest in defense, or adjust the approach at times. No magic solution to fix this. Next season will he harder. Most top teams will be stronger, especially Madrid who will be out for blood to reclaim their lost title in Spain.
I honestly believe we would have been playing the Finals if we:-
- Balde and Kounde in the lineup or better backups - Grimaldo rumour indicates we are looking into this issue, plus Eric was injured and he got re-invented as an RB pretty late into the season, so I see him as a new backup for next season.

- Yamal being a bit pragmatic - His lack of experience showed, there was a sequence where he should have understood what Pedri wanted him to do. But he showed he learned from that, when a similar situation happened a couple of games later, and he did what an experienced footballer would do and wasted time without loosing possession.

- Our defense being not tired and better - If we could add Taller Faster LCB as a backup to Inigo he wouldn't have gotten tired, and we would have a much better approach to our defensive shortcomings.

I would much rather we invest on a LCB than a shiny new expensive LW. Our system generates the best possibilities for attackers, while having similar xGA and oppositions shots on goal as before years. Our CBs lack of speed , height , and GK not good at 1v1, are one of the reasons why the xGA being converted to GA is higher than our avg.

Anyone who better remembers Flick's Bayern details... Did he always play with one winger wide (Yamal) and the other one more like a second striker or did he use two wide wingers? Wondering how we could look with Nico...
