Greatest team to never win the Champions League

The European Cup, most commonly known as the Champions League in the modern era, is the biggest and greatest club competition to win in football. And many teams over the years have failed to win the European Cup although they have been so great with the likes of Madrid 2011-12 and Barcelona 2009-10 getting so close yet they didn’t win the European Cup.

Now the question arises, what is the greatest team to never win the European Cup/Champions League, a club side so great that it was very surprising they didn’t finish the job in Europe, the criteria is that we are talking about a specific season not an era or a club. An example we can say is Milan 2004-05. I am intrigued to see the responses to say the least.

I honestly thought it meant the biggest club not to win a title, ever. But I get what you mean now.

Lol you probably named top 3 examples. Maybe Juve 2003 or during 90s when they lost 2 out of 3 finals.
2002-03 Juventus so unlucky, they beat both Barcelona and Real Madrid in the quarters and semis respectively and still managed to not win the European Cup. Btw Barcelona 2002-03 was a great European team winning 11/12 group stage matches before the quarter final tie, the first leg ended 1-1 in Turin and despite Xavi's equaliser in the second leg, Davids' red card and the tie being in the Camp Nou, we went out due to Zalayeta's silver goal 4 minutes before the end of normal time. Barcelona misses the European Cup for the first time in 6 years.

03 04 was last time Barca wasnt in CL I think. Even Bayern wasnt. When Sociedad nearly won Primera.

Barca played with Brugge, Lokomotiv, and Galatasaray and 2nd group with Inter, Toon and Leverkusen. As you said, they couldnt lose.

Juve or Nedved specifically only has himself to blame for getting suspended for the final. They would probably get it.

Sociedad was in the title race in 02-03 and lost it in the penultimate day against Celta. Gifting Real Madrid's 29th LaLiga title, a few days later, Hierro leaves and Del Bosque gets sacked. Perez shoots himself in the foot and the downfall of the Galacticos begins...

They got rid of Hierro over the phone, really been cunts when it comes to treating their legends.

Del Bosque was a great coach for them. 2 CL among other things.

Man I don’t want to be that guy but it could be better if you chose a specific season for each. Cause for example Bayern 2015-16 deserved to win UCL more than Bayern 2014-15

Great list of teams but Poch's Spurs.....bro

Without Moura turning to bald golden noodle Ronaldo they would have lost vs Ajax, was a good team but far far away from the other teams of that list
