Eduardo Vargas

22 year old forward who has recently been the best player on Universidad de Chile, scoring the game winning goal in the Copa Sudamericana and leading la U to a historic league/copa double. He was voted the Chilean footballer of the year and is a finalist for South American Footballer of the Year. He will lose to Gaymar but he could be in the top 3.

Today Chilean commentator and former Chilean international Eduardo Bonavallet said he is better than Asexis.

That isn't true but he's very good and it's only a matter of time before he's in Europe. Sadly he's been linked mostly to Liverpool, so he will probably be ruined.

if Liverpool take Vargas they really will ruin him. mainly because he'll be playing for Liverpool and exposed to all their horrible cuntery. siiigh.

sadly he's too big a name for Udinese now. he'd have been perfect to replace Asexis.

reckon he could do well for Villarreal. be the kind of attacking force that they've needed since Cazorla left. unite their attack which would raise the rest of their team.

He'd fit in nicely in Villarreal. Perfect replacement for Cazorla.

I'd love him on Fiorentina if they sell the other Vargas. They don't really need that kind of player but Cerci is unreliable and they could try an all attack trident instead of hoping Gilardino remembers how to get tap ins.

I've also heard Inter links but..meh.

I know it's a goal.com link but it's a very good article (written by Ry's brother) on Vargas and La U's historic team:

This team is known as the Barcelona of South America for a reason. I would absolutely love for Vargas to stay around to try his hand at helping la U win the Libertadores (and in the process overshadow Neymar's Santos as the best South American team in the past few years) but resisting offers at this point is difficult...

It's not just Liverpool. Inter is very much interested in him. And from what rumors say Chelsea and Juve are as well. Inter could take this more seriously since they are very much after a forward in this Januray and the possible departure of Diego Milito will make this much more possible.

If he does leave Chile in January (I'd rather he at least stay til the summer to see how far Universidad can go in the Libertadores) I'm not thrilled about him going to Inter but it beats England. Inter isn't the prospect killer it once was but it definitely puts an unhealthy expectation on creative prospects to be the savior, I mean look at the unfair expectation on Alvarez. Sadly though I doubt there's any other options because it looks like Chelsea is serious about an offer. :(

The main problem with the current Inter is that the old players still make the main structure of the team. The club is trying to replace that with the younger prospects who earns less salaries. They're doing it pretty slow but still doing it. I think we have to expect the departure of 4,5 old players from the team in this Januray and next summer, and the arrival of new young players. So it won't be as bad as it seems now.

Yup, Universidad confirmed it. For only 15M too. There goes La U's Libertadores run.

What a fucking bargain. Neymar is going to cost 4 or 5 times that amount.

If he's a bargain or not only time will tell. But I like this Napoli project and I hink they will beat Chelsea in CL.
