What happens if Xavi gets injured for a while. Can we compensate this w/out a huge quality loss that can harm our season objectives? And who would then be the best backup? Or do we still have to buy someone (also) to cover that risk?

No, we dont really have sufficient backup. We need a midfielder that can come into the team should xavi get injured for a couple of months. We dont have that right now, and the best person that would fulfil that is cesc. Keita and busquets are much more box to box midfielders than a midfielder that dictates play like xavi.

Hard to replace Xavi but maz has mentioned the only other play who can come close. I think we'd be OK if anything was to happen to Xavinho.

Touch wood nothings does happen! God I hope I haven't jinxed it.

No. We were lucky last season. We really need another CM. Even the hopeless Guddy filled at times and now with him and Hleb likely to leave we really are short in options. Dont understand why we're so obsessed with DM's when we have plenty of cover but not a single bid for AM/CM.

Exactly, VERY lucky last season. We can't count on having such an injury-free season as we have just had.

To be honest, I just think the team was prepared better, physically, than the previous years. Even though anything can happen, I'm going to give Guardiola and his supporting staff some special credit on that point.

However, It would be a very good idea to aquire another central-midfielder and the perfect candidate as stated previously is Cesc Fabregas.

yaya proved last night he can play anything

Yayá can take it on himself at times to break down the opposition, but we are talking about a player that needs to run things consistently throughout the match, and for 4 or 5 matches in a row.
