It is the same whether spending on salary or amortised fee though.

Why would it be different?

If Inigo is 9m wages and Roque was 9m with amortized fee and salary combined it is the same cost on books in relation to FFP.

Roque will be more than 4m a year though. That may be his salary but his fee on top will be around 7m so in total closer to 10m for a full season. It may be they try and free up half that if he comes for only half a season though.

I think transfer fees are interpreted differently in LaLiga otherwise we would have been able to spend modesty instead of focused on free signings these past years bar the levers.

For the cost on books of likes of Gundagon, Inigo, Aguero, Eric, etc over the years there are a ton of players in the =>30m range on a 5 year contract that could have been signed, who would amortize the same or less.

If Barca are on 1:2 then for every euro 'saved' they can spend half of that on the salary total.

The financial fair play calculates the salary limit as both players salaries and amortised transfer fees where relevant.

It is no easier for Barca to spend 9m a year on Inigos salary than it would be to pay 25m for a player on a 5 year contract and a salary of 4m a season.

It is exactly same costs on books for the FFP both would add 9m to the salary total and Barca are choosing how to spend it.

Free signings have come in as they are 'cheaper' in terms of getting payers for less on books that would have if payed a transfer fee for them on top of their salaries.

He had a perfect chance not to renew and to be able to move freely in 2024. But nope. Think he'll end up in PL.

Doubt Liepzig would have let that happen very easily.

Barca couldnt have afforded him in sunmmer and if they forced him out he wouldnt have got the move.

in some ways him renewing with release clause was the best chance he had to get to Barca.
