I would also like to get that type of a DM but where do you see FDJ's longterm future? I still think it would be better to use him as a DM than a CM though we've just bought that Brazilian kid who is apparently seen as Busi's replacement so I don't know. I would like to get someone like Camavinga but I don't see us spending 60M+ on a DM. Instead I think we should get a stronger box-to-box midfielder at FDJ's side in tougher away league games and CL. We can still get away playing 80-90% of home games with a "softer" midfield like FDJ-Arthur-new creative CM especially if we replace Suarez with a younger forward so midfield+defense wouldn't need to defend for two forwards walking around but just Messi (who will move even less in next years).
So getting someone who could do a "dirty work" but also provide goals+asssists is crucial imo. Vidal is our best midfielder for this role now and while he's still doing a good job in most games he's not getting any younger. This is why I think finding a young Vidal is a must longterm. I have no idea which young player would bring the same level of passion and energy in every game though and it will be also hard to do get his replacement this summer because we also need a CB, striker and more creative midfielder so I wouldn't mind keeping Vidal for another season (well probably sell him because we'll need non-EU spots for Lautaro and Neymar though
)
What I think we should do next season though is bench Busi (ideally we would send him to MLS but this won't happen and if Setien stays he loves him too much so he'll still start most games sadly) for FDJ. Rotate Arthur/Riqui at one CM position and then buy a creative mifielder who is not a total liability in defense.
As for the striker I think Bartomeu will go for a big name like Neymar (God forbid) or Lautaro in a year before the elections but I'm actually more in favour of getting a bit less proven cheaper forward (so I'm looking at guys like Osimhen and some kids from Eredivisie) and use the remaining 50-60M (difference in prices of Lautaro and that other player) on a good CB (this should be our priority imo) and a midfielder. We can't pay 110M for Lautaro and then probably another 150M on a CB and a midfielder. Unless we somehow get "lucky" again and find a new Umtiti for 30M.
Like it or not I think Suarez will see his contract out and still be a starter next year so we'll have a hard time fielding Messi, Suarez, Lautaro and Griezmann in the same lineup (unless we'll decide Griezmann is a flop after one season and loan him
). The only way I see sense in buying Lautaro is if Suarez will surely leave either in summer or next January for the start of 2021 MLS season (though losing players in winter can have negative effects) when we'd see if/how Lautaro would adapt. If not then I'd prefer to wait for another year and get all out on Haaland in 2021. With Raiola as his agent I could see him going to United for 2-3 seasons before coming to Barça/RM though so we really shouldn't count too much that we'd really get him especially because elections could delay our transfer activities next year. Haaland could also be used as a great election promise by some candidate though I wouldn't really like our socios to elect the next president just based on the player(s) he'd promise to bring but rather an overall good sporting and financial project.
Anyway, I'm totally OT now so it's probably better to finish here.
