We committed our players forward and they counter attacked from their bus. They had space to attack and created decent chances.

Btw the last time was the only time they tried to play a little bit of football. They tried to keep the ball and attack sometimes. But they were mostly parking the bus.

One more injured and we're playing with Adriano at the back. It is already giving me nightmares.

Our squad is simply too thin, the bench is filled with 2nd-class-players, youngsters and oldtimers. When we lose a player to an iniury, there is a big drop in quality. Right now we're playing with Pinto in goal who wouldn't be a starter in any Liga side and probably in most Segunda sides neither. Xavi is 34 and if he gets injured, we're screwed. I'm not even going to start on players like Messi, Iniesta and Busquets.

The only players on our bench who are able to maintain a similar level to the starters are Pedro and Bartra. When you compare it to Bayern who have a bench filled with players who would walk into most other teams, you realise how far behind other world class teams we are on this issue.

And about your statement that our defense is up there with the best in the world. This season, they indeed have a great record but keep in mind that Tata plays more defensively than his predecessors and it isn't long ago that we've conceded 3 goals against Madrid. Anyone who watches Barca matches immediately realises that defense is a weak point of our team and it is again made obvious this season as our attackers had to make up for the defense several times.

So what if we conceded 3 against Madrid at Bernabeu? They conceded 4 goals at their own turf and lost! Would it be better if we had won 1-0? Sure, we could have conceded less goals by going for a more defensive tactic, but that would have meant less goals scored as well, with forwards being isolated.

We are better in defense than in previous years. We concede few goals. Our bench is what it should be: a place where the youth players at least can see how close they are to make it big for their childhood club. Filling it up with star players who will whine because of lack of playing time after half a season is not good for the club. Any club would lose quality f they had Messi or Iniesta and they were out. Its natural. But we have players on the bench that performed great when given sustained playing time (I never judge players based on games where they lack match fitness which is the case for bench players). Look what happened when Messi was out. Or Alba was out for months. Did the sky fall? No, Alexis and Pedro performed admirably and have record goal scoring records for us. Adriano stepped up and showed he is a class player. Rafinha is coming back next season, and we have Iniesta, Cesc and Busi as our midfield if Xavi is out. Thats a fantastic midfield, only Bayern's Kroos-Schweinsteiger-Lahm can compete with it. And its not like Bayern have such a great defense either. Boateng and Rafinha are not better than Masche and Alves.

I believe you are spot on, our squad is well balanced as there's an aproppriate mix of young, old, experienced, ambitious, world class, and super subs.
If we are to have a complete squad for next season i think the only position that might need strengthening is the CB position which will be almost mandatory when Puyii leaves, as well as the GK delimma. Otherwise we have a well balanced and sufficient squad to challange on all fronts (barring any unpleasent departures).

Let's just hope he does for his own sake, he's a really talented footballer and it would be a shame for his career to keep on stagnating as is.

Whatever. He just has to go! . . He seem like fish out of water whenever he plays for us.

Sports director Zubizarreta called with Ter Stegen yesterday to reassure him. Barcelona hope transfer ban will at least be suspended [sport]

Really hoping it get suspended. . . We should go AVB like crazy with signings if it does. Ok not AVB-like but we should capitalize on the opportunity to get all that will last us for 2 seasons.

Going balistic on signings would risk the squad becoming unbalanced, give our coach headaches, increase the risk of fallouts, and hurt the club in a financial aspect. Maybe be right to invest heavily if we could but in Key positions! Just defence and GKs otherwise none, i believe.

We definitely need a CM too. Xavi's not getting any younger.

No one is getting younger. That goes against nature.

Xavi's role can only be found within the club, a player brought up with our philosophy is crucial in that role. Its not going to be found by making a signing and expecting him to control our play like Xavi has done for a decade. We have Busi-Iniesta-Cesc as our midfield without Xavi, and Song in reserve with Samper being our most promising youth player together with Rafinha. Surely, if we want Samper to play a role for us, or even Rafinha, we cant make a midfield signing. Samper and Rafinha should be our "signings".
