Argentina

Took it easy. Ecuador was fouling too much in a friendly for my taste.

Lautaro and Alvarez really need to step it up.

I'm hoping Scaloni sees the light with Nico Gonzalez and plays Garnacho more often.

Lautaro has been insane for Inter but he seems to be crap for Argentina, what could be the reason for that

Lautaro lacks physical attributes and prefers to play off a physical powerhouse with strength and pace like Lukaku or Thuram.

To be a lone striker, you need to be very complete and well rounded. While Lautaro is really good technically he lacks the physicality, pace and aerial ability to play up top on his own.

For me personally, hopefully vs Guatemala, we see this team

-------------------------Lautaro
Garnacho------------------------------------Messi
--------------MacAllister--------Palacios
-------------------------Enzo
Barco---------Lisandro--------Balerdi---------Molina
-------------------------Dibu

Would be brilliant to see how Messi combines with Garnacho and Barco

Very well balanced 11.

How good is Balerdi/Palacios?

Palacios has been important for Leverkeusen and he's been in great form. He's main competition is Rodrigo De Paul though and for me, Palacios is more impactful as a supersub.

Balerdi reached the Europa League Semi with Marseille and lost to the eventual winners Atalanta. My wish was that Scaloni to drop Pezzella for the Copa America and include Balerdi in the squad to get started with the rejuvenation of the squad to be ready for the World Cup 2026. A bit slow on the turn, but defensively he's good with great aerial presence and with great passing range. Can play both RCB and LCB (usually plays as a LCB in a back 3)

But seems like Scaloni really likes Pezzella's dressing room influence.

Copa XI will mostly be the same as before right @soul24rage

Dibu
Montiel, Romero, Licha, Acuna
RDP, Enzo, MacAllister
Messi, Alvarez, Di Maria

Lo Celso, Lautaro, Garnacho on standby.

Molina injured atm. Tagliafico/Acuna rotation as per usual. Otamendi with late subs to defend leads?
