Tito Vilanova’s Barça, after defeating Levante at the Ciutat de Valencia this Sunday evening, have equaled the best-ever start in La Liga, a mark that was set by Radomir Antic’s Real Madrid in 1991/92. The 0-4 away to Levante, with two goals from Messi, one from Andrés Iniesta and another from Cesc, leave the Blaugrana at the top of the table with 37 points, three more than Atlético Madrid, who are Barça’s nearest perusers.
With 12 victories and only 1 draw from the 13 opening matches in La Liga, Vilanova’s Barça have equalled the all-time best ever start to the domestic competition and they'll have the chance to break the record next week when they take on Athletic Club. In 1991, Antic’s Real Madrid, who won 12 and tied 1 of their opening matches, drew away to Zaragoza on matchday 14. That season, however, was won by FC Barcelona.
