8 - Pedri

Nah dont agree.

If he is there to try and get between lines of midfield and front three and likes of Busquets is hiding and playing as third CB while opposition play a high line it absolutely matters where and when he gets the ball as to the impact he can have.

First of all, you're making it sound like he's playing false nine or something. He's a CM, which means that, even if his role is more offensive than the others, his main duty is progressing the ball from defense to attack.

Even if he was something like a false nine, simply "being there" is not really enough for receiving the ball between the lines. It's about being aggressive with your runs, actively agitating the opponents marking, seizing gaps with immediacy, being daring in the spaces.

First of all...no I am talking as if he is being asked to play AM and up the park to try and link midfield with attack as he did for Spain.

Dont agree his main job is getting ball from defence to midfield at all..

Strawman about 'false nine' is irrelevant unless want to make things up to argue against.

Pedri in a team that was in opponents half more and can take ball up park is where would see best of him in this formation. He can still play well or badly within the set up but limits what he can do if asked to play role of linking midfield to attack.

If he is asked to play as did for Spain and was in first couple games this season.

No player in any tactial system has a role that is limited to 'linking midfield to attack'.

You don't have to think to long to realize how dumb that is. If we assume that logic of limited roles, then surely Busquets' role would be to 'link defense/gk to midfield'. Well who then actually is this midfield that Busquets is suppoed to pass to and who in turn is supposed to pass to Pedri? I would assume that this responsibility falls to the one leftover cm?

Right so now what we have is a build-up pattern that consists of one singular sequence of passes going from Busquets -> the midfielder -> Pedri -> an attacker, which should be repeated ad infinitum. Something about it doesn't exactly sound right.

Or is it somehow only Pedri whose role is limited like that?

Argue with someone who is claiming player have one role and are forbidden to do anything else. Awful point.

Players have roles that other players can impact how much they will see the ball and given platform to perform. No debate that is a fact for every player going.

IF Pedris is asked to play higher up and to have job of linking midfield and attack while trying to get in between lines dont expect him to do all that much if getting ball on halfway line 60 yds from goal and little options.

You keep making shit up to argue against. Quite your forte.

For Pedri and Gavi it is all about what they cant do but for Puig one simple pass is extraordinary and something 'no one else on pitch can do'.

Same shite as usual.

Done well when he?s seen the ball but gradually Bayern started getting the majority of possession so tough for him to get involved.

Hard for him to do anything when he has to cover for Busis lack of positional awareness and pace. He is doing the job for 2 players because our DM is useless.

Yeah he found some good space sometimes in the first half, but then more and more was out of his tempo, doing nothing defensively.
