Inigo Martínez

Cat Radio(Esports3) says Inigo believes he's not physically up to playing 50 games a season at the top level anymore.
Be serious. It's clear that the reason is FFP and registration issues. After Christensen refused to leave and Mats showed him the middle finger this was the only option Laporta and Deco had and they probably urged him to find a new club so they could free up 14 mil in salaries.

Few weeks ago Deco publicly stated that we have too many CB's and that one has to leave. However, no one thought that would be Inigo.

He probably feels his age and knows it's only downward from last season where he already showed signs of recession in the last couple of months (granted most players did due to fatigue). He also understands he will make at least 3x more money in Saudi than he would have made with us.

Even though it stings right now and it would have been great to see him sacrifice some of that money to chase that UCL trophy with us for one more year, you can't be mad for him to go for that retirement money while he still has some value.

This was a bolt from the blue. Wake up to this.
Fuck, Araujo as starting cb is disaster class.
People need to remember that Araujo and Christensen are both made of glass. With our luck both will get injured. We'll probably have to move Kounder to cb and Eric at rb, if that happens.

I can't be mad at Laporta or Inigo.

One has done what he can in terms of selling players, and other one is thinking this is my last chance to earn crazy amount of money.

Also Christensen does not want to leave, Ter Stegen is on full retard mode and we are not selling anyone else. So it makes sense he will go and free up decent amount of wages.

And most important.

We need to remember that we are in though situation with money, we can't make best possible moves.

Honestly, I am not too fussed about it.

Inigo got massively overrated, he looked shit at the end of last year and during the crisis we had in November, never mind an underwhelming first season.
He only looked good when the whole team looked great and it was a well oiled machine, but he was mistake prone, who lacks speed and not physically dominant CB, on top of being old one.

He never belonged to the Barca starting lineup, but the lack of World Class CB here has forced him into this position.
If a CB had to leave, he was the ideal candidate, he had his 30 seconds of fame here, it isn't too bad to move on.

Unless we can get a really good CB who has the potential to be game changer, don't bring new CB. A stop gap won't make that much difference to what we have.

Christensen, Cubarsi, Araujo, along Eric, Martin and Kounde when needed, can cover for the CB for a season.

Let's see if this is the only departure, though. Only Romeu and Fort are remaining from the deadweight and they won't create that much FFP space.
If we need more generated income, I suspect they will look for sales from midfield, and this could cause trouble in our depth chart.

Edit: Also Inaki Pena is a another one we should sell.

That looks ok on paper but in practice that won't cut it,especially in CL.
The defence was our downfall last year and it hasn't been reinforced. I hope Cubarsi, Christensen and Kounde stay injury free because we'll need them.
