4 - Ronald Araújo

No it wasn't, Araujo played very well before and after Xavi's champions season. He was very good, amazing in Clasicos as RB but then PSG and the injury happened together with Flick's change of system and he looks a different player.

It's not fair you guys are saying that he was always a bum, he wasn't.

He wasn't bad before, but after PSG and Lucho targeted him it's gone downhill for him. Every team does the same now. Just put him under pressure and he'll do something stupid nowadays.

I think he made mistakes before in la liga that were a sign but people let it slide under pretext of “he’s young and still learning”

It's not that he's a shit defender.

It's just that I can't envision us winning a CL with him playing a significant part in the knockouts.

The skillevel is there and many teams where they would be happy with what he offers. But it’s his mentality that is a liability for us.

Yeah, imo he started to get overrated based on some artificial things like him blocking Vini in some games, scoring a header vs Madrid in the 4-0 Clasico in 2022, stuff like that. Not based on actualy defensive metrics.

If told about his bad sides, people used to reply he's gonna improve, this or that, etc. And 2-3 seasons later, he not only didn't improve, but got exposed, mainly succumbing under the pressure of more high-stakes games. Because in these types of matches you tend to face teams that know very well to exploit such weaknesses.

His weakness is being injury-prone. Other than that he's the full package to be a great defender and he's shown that periodically.

Up to him to train hard and reach that level or remain mediocre as he is currently.

I'm fresh off watching Thierry Henry's interview with Garry Neville, Carra, Keane and Ian Wright. One thing Henry said, speaking of his early Arsenal days, he was benched, Bergkamp and Kanu are playing, the score is 5-1 vs. Middlesbrough. Wenger decides to sub and goes for David Suker. Henry goes: "I have to do something here."

Joe is cooked here. You just don't recover from those kind of demons at a top club. I can only imagine the asshole DMs he was getting after PSG, and then after Inter.

Go to a defensive setup, start from fresh and be a beast. In ideally Italy.
