Sergi Roberto

He can run forward and decent enough finish.

So far off of top players like FDJ on the ball it is scary but for now and having that energetic threat in box and to press can be useful.

Better in final third than likes of Gavi to be fair.

Better than all your midfielders except Gundogan in the final third

No he isnt.. not even close.

Do better.

Yesterday literally FDJ from DM had more quality into final third.

He fluffed about best chance of the match for Barca when shite in final third running onto ball FDJ played through.

Frenkie better ball carrier or Pedri better passer.

But Bob has better movement, can offer himself to recieve the ball and can make run. Better shot too.

Xavi on Sergi Roberto's contract due to expire in June 2024: "I want Sergi to stay and sign new deal". "I already told the club my idea about Sergi. He knows what Barça is...What he represents. He is a very criticised player, but he always gives his best".

Roberto should not be renewed.

Time to spend money on better future of club not a midielder may turn to when have multiple injuries.

If have a 'proper' DM and Pedri/Gavi fit there is plenty cover in midfield to point any money given to Roberto could be better spent on younger player to develop in any minutes available.

Xavi loves an older/Spanish player he thinks he sees more in than others can though.

If there is a proper DM and Xavi accepts Barca need and attackers at LW then no need for Roberto when three midfield places available.

Lets say DM, FDJ and Pedri as startting three for argument sake then have Gundogan, Gavi and Fermin after that.

Would be typical Barca to then waste more money on Roberto who barely plays and he may be better than Fermin but then move him on.

Renewing Roberto is exactly the kind of thing uncle Flo wouldn't do these days. We are a soft, retirement home.

He’s 31 and performs decent enough. Our squad is paper thin as well. He’s on cheap wages. Only issue is his injury record.

Would definitely extend if the medical department thinks his physical problems are mostly solved and maybe try to cash in on the likes of Fermin.

We need a new midfielder if we are letting him go. Fermin doesn't seem to be anything special, Gundo is ready to decline anytime now and Pedri is injury prone. Someone who is available every game like Rice for Arsenal or Rakitic was for us, Zubimendi could be that guy.

We need to sign a pivot anyway. Completely independent from Roberto. Not a fan of Jammys calculation for midfield spots either. We need depth more than ever. Frenkie, Gundogan, Pedri, Gavi, DM + Roberto isn't too much (even if we add Fermin).

Bruno Fernandes?
