CL Round 2: Bayern Munchen - FC Barcelona 2-0

We could easily win this one 2:4 and be ahead 0:3 at halftime. Unfortunately, Pedri missed two very clean chances for goal, and it was obvious that Mr.Lewandowski does not want to hurt his former team. He should turn into goals at least 2 of his 4 chances. At the other end of the field, usually stable Araujo and Kounde made some critical mistakes, and the Bavarians took advantage of it. Dembele did not had a good game either.
Let's be realistic. This Barcelona team is not yet Champions League contender. We are going to the right direction, but not there yet. City, Bayern, PSG and even troublesome Liverpool teams are better at this level.

Yes, we are not there yet, but the improvement from last season is massive. Also, one could say Real Madrid isn't at that level too, but they keep winning the damn thing.

Yes, it was Nagelsmann's substitutions that helped concede a goal from a corner and the subsequent panic. God-level analysts. Who would Xavi release so that they conceded after a corner. Bayern at the end was playing for time, falling, rolling around the field. Barca lacked only the completion.

Good point.

Game just showed a minor, but glaring point, that has been evident in Barcelona for years. But now that Messi isn't around can be changed.

We don't really have the depth in the wing positions that other big clubs like City and Bayern do. Sane had great individual actions that Dembele didn't this game and Raphinha sort of did. But we don't have the depth to change much on the wings compared to Bayern who had Coman out and cod still bring on Gnabry.

Maybe come end of season we do if Ferran can hit his stride and Ansu reaches full fitness. But otherwise, I would like to see us have the depth now we don't have the star power of the forward line taking up the bulk of the cap and starting every minute.

Well the person he subbed on took the shot, that was cleared away that led to the corner.

If sabitzer was on maybe that doesn't happen, who knows.

The Goretzka sub did make a huge difference for them. First half Gavi was suffocating them and Pedri was taking control of the midfield.

Bayern could barely string more than two passes together. However once he came on, Bayern started to recover the ball quickly.

Bayern Munich's player, Joshua Kimmich admitted to the Bar?a players after the game that they had dominated them and that Bar?a had made them run the most at the Allianz Arena. [md] team play has improved. But Lewandowski alone is not enough. Dembele, Rafinha are not so good. It remains a stellar signing or scoring with a team game, Pedri could decide the outcome of the match. Big hope Fati, while this hope is there.

You're welcome
Dembele needs to man up a bit. He has shown what he can do against defenders in La Liga. He just feels comfortable in La Liga playing. Now he needs to start feeling comfortable against top level teams. Pressure just got to him.

He is a bum. Always will be. If its not the injuries its the poor performance against quality opposition. The man always fails to deliver when it matters. Will never bail us out in an important game.

I take it you missed us playing Madrid twice under Xavi?

Or were those not important games?

No, they weren't. Didn't win shit. And Madrid didn't even give a fuck.

What would we have won against Bayern, the 'beat Bayern in group stage trophy'?

A game against Real away at the Bernabeu in LaLiga is one of the biggest games we'll play outside of direct trophy winning games.

He also was great against Real in the Super Cup.
