Ansu Fati (loaned to Brighton)

Really doesn't bode well for his future. Keep in mind that Umtiti was a LB/CB and Fati is a forward who suddenly changes direction and has small bursts much more frequently. Torres's agility and pace were done after his meniscus tear.

Same with the acl and many players.. Cursiouly eto'o came back hungrier and healthier and stronger than ever after his acl missed season in 2008! But the guy has elite mentality

I will take the worst case scenario and have him being effective for us for 6-8 years.

Still hope for the best, for his own sake and ours.

It wasn't Torres' tear that finished his career, per se. He had a meniscectomy, which removed the meniscus in 2010 and that shortened his career/effectiveness - of course he was 26 by the time he had his meniscus removed as he was never quite the same player afterwards

Ansu, at 18 (19 for next season) could face a shortened playing career but because he is younger, the impact of not having a meniscus will be more degenerative - meaning it could be shorter

Ansu Fati's recovery started poorly from day one. After the first surgery back in November, he took 5 days to be discharged from the hospital. Usually, players should be fine to go home after 48 hours. Since then, he has had 2 more surgeries, both hidden by the club.

Feel for this kid. Wonder what his mental state is?. Imagine living your dream and then everything collapses all of a sudden.

He'd be out for another two months and hopefully being able to join for next season's start.
I was actually mentally prepared for him missing another 6 months and not playing before 2022.
So for me these are surprisingly good news.

I'm shaking

Dr. Ramon Cugat performed three failed arthroscopies on Ansu Fati's left knee. The first one being in November, then January and the last one in March. Ansu visited other specialists in France that told him that removing his meniscus is now the only 'solution' to his injury which is now degenerative.

Yep, 4th time going under the knife. It'll be either a full/partial meniscectomy. The latter has better long-term consequences but because his initial tear was the medial horn aspect this is more significant for load bearing of the knee joint and makes his prognosis less certain

There is a direct relationship between the amount of meniscus that is surgically removed and the load distribution across the knee. If more tissue is removed, the knee is less able to sustain the load of walking, running, or other activities much less professional football. With uneven load distribution, degeneration of the knee joint may happen at a faster pace than it would with an intact meniscus.

A year ago we were in Bartomeu hell, little did we know Fati's future would come into question so soon

I hope it is partial but even then, long-term career impact still impossible to estimate but it cannot be compared to others that happen at a later age

You seem to have some insight, what are your thoughts on potential stem cell therapy in his case? Do you know if FC Barcelona even have access to this? Surely they would, right?
By the way, where did you get the info about the medial horn, was there more info on his injury?
