Mauro Icardi

I hope he grows well. We might need him in a few years.

He's not a bad height right now and if you have a good technique many short players can head the ball with power and accuracy. He is a real nine. Only thinks about the goal. Wants to play for Argentina so keep your grubby hands off Prandelli. Leo has kept in touch with him. They share similar stories although Mauro had to move for financial reasons and also rejected the chance to play for Spain.

Good boy. :)

INTER HAVE CHOSEN ICARDI

Transfer market – Moratti has identified the future anti-Balotelli.

The Samp striker has said yes to the Nerazzurri. Finding agreement between both clubs is at the final home stretch. Milito, who has a contract until 2014, could be his mentor.

INTER-ICARDI, THE RESPONSE TO BALO

He has chosen the Nerazzurri. The agreement with Sampdoria is in the pipeline.

For the Argentinian, contract until 2017. The cost of entire operation is about 15 million plus bonuses.

The method of payment is the only thing that needs stabilized.

Milan – Inter have in their hands Mauro Icardi. July is not tomorrow but he is already very close because the club of Massimo Moratti has moved firmly and decisively on the brightest talent in the league, former Barcelona player and a friend of Leo Messi. There is quite a high price tag on the Sampdoria player on whom Napoli tried to snatch away on the last transfer day in January. However, Inter will have the player next season. The operation will cost about 15-16 million euros plus bonuses and this does not mean that Milito will say goodbye. Indeed.

Facing the project After having struck Kovacic, and knowing that Rocchi is only an immediate solution, Inter have decided to give its offensive department muscles and talent with the player that represents the present and future: Icardi is exploding on the Serie A scene right now, a sure bet and but can still improve in a few aspects. The cost of his card will be around 15 million euros: balanced and sensible spending because his value is destined to soar. Just like Kovacic, Icardi is another investment of the future (although he can contribute now as well). This project is wanted by Moratti and to be led by Andrea Stramaccioni. Marco Branca and Piero Ausilio are perfectly on board with this signing of Mauro Icardi, 20 years old in a week, a dynamic central forward. It is true that Napoli will not completely give up but other than the failed attack late January (offered 10 million), the Azzurri still have much doubt on Cavani (staying or going?) and are very much worried about the will of the player which is a major factor.

Wants Inter The will of Icardi (whose idol is Batistuta) is to play for Inter because he wants to grow and improve in the legendary Argentinian colony at Appiano Gentile, because staying with Diego Milito would be like waking up with an encyclopedia of football and because his profile fits perfectly to a new face that Inter are transforming itself to. In short: there was nothing that Napoli could have done at the end of January because the boy (who was persuaded by Messi to sign for Barcelona) has Inter in mind. And the Nerazzurri, with this understanding, have moved towards closing this deal ahead of domestic and European competition.

15-16 million… The last obstacle that Inter have right now is the method of payment. The Nerazzurri intend to pay Sampdoria at the maximum of eight million euros plus a technical counterpart. All signs are pointing towards Silvestre who was looked at by the Blucerchiati in January transfer window when the Argentinian straight up refused. Then it is clear that the Inter-baby list is long and valid. Perhaps Inter could add one more young player on loan or in a co-ownership deal to reduce the distance between two clubs. The total value of Icardi, in short, is around 15-16 million plus bonuses. Regarding personal terms, the hypothesis is a contract until 2017 at one million (and raising) per season (earning 150k at Sampdoria currently). Let’s put it this way: Inter are hard at work. The renovation continues…

How Barca could have lost a talent like this??? Let's hope these Inter rumours are true, this kid has enough quality to be a top striker from the next years.

He's still young, he could play at inter for a year or two to see how he develops and then maybe we'll see if he could fit.

This season he scored three goals in two games against Juve. His Sampdoria was the only team to beat them both home and away. This kid is gonna be awesome.

I would still wait a season or two before giving a verdict, look at El Shaarawy who had been much more impressive than Icardi yet totally disappeared during the 2nd half of the season.

In El Sha's case his performances started going down after Balotelli joined. I have to wonder if that is hindering him at all.

No. Defenders figured him out & you can't expect him to keep up that form all season, he's only young. It was pretty much inevitable.

Which is kind of a shame since he seems to be a very one dimensional player. There are lots of strikers like him that have one great half season/season and then go blank.

Do you have hope he'll be able to adapt as he gets older or do you think he was overhyped then?

As for Icardi - he had a bit of a goalscoring drought too, but reappeared at the right moment :p
