Gonna be hilarious watching those virtue signalling clowns on redcafe if they end up with some Middle east oil buying them up.

I am guessing many of them will be so jubilant as they despise the Glazers for siphoning money away from the club and middle eastern owners mean much more money invested in the club?

There has to be something that the general public do not know about.

How is that within a month, the owners of Liverpool and Manchester United, who of the most valuable sporting teams in the world, both get put up for sale by their owners?

These clubs make more money than ever....there must be more to this than what is being told.

Man Utd and Liverpool have been put on sale by American owners. American sports team owners are used to the American sports style of having a salary cap on player wages and pretty much being guaranteed a profit.

Football clubs don't have cost certainty with players wages, transfer fees, and possibility of missing out on additional revenue by not making Champions League.

They probably see that football club values have likely peaked now that the Super League project is looking dead in the water.

Plus Liverpool's owners are rumored to be interested in buying an NBA team for Las Vegas, so they might just want the cash for an investment with better cost certainty.

I don’t know how much profit a typical NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL club generates for its owners, however it is true that football clubs don’t generate a lot of profit. Even the likes of Bayern and Madrid that often are in the black, that often outperformed other clubs in terms of post-tax income, in a good year those numbers are usually in the realm of 30m to 60m. Perhaps that’s not enough for those American billionaires, perhaps their money could be spent on other sectors that have higher returns. Considering Dick’s Sporting Goods, the American sporting goods chain, had a net income of $228m in Q3 of 2022 alone.

How does this work? Is't LeBron James a minority part of FSG? How can an active NBA player be a part of a team ownership?

I suspect the benefits of European Club ownership is more in line with Middle Eastern and Russian Oligarchs (previously and probably post War) compared to US owners. Politically and investment wise.

Madrid isn't a fair comparison though much like a well run Barcelona wouldn't be as the socio model is not about creating huge profit margins.

The economic benefits for Florentino Perez are created by the added value he achieves through being the president of Real Madrid.

The statement from their board of directors is perplexing though, it sounds like as if they were going to deepen their engagement and investment into the club... Perhaps it is just a way to embellish their move of finding their way out?

"We will consider all strategic alternatives, including a new investment in the club, a sale or other transactions involving the company. This will include an evaluation of various initiatives to strengthen the club, including the redevelopment of the stadium and infrastructure, and the expansion of the club's commercial operations on a global scale, each in the context of enhancing the long-term success of the men's, women's and club academy."

Ten Hag is a genius, the way he has turned them around with such huge distractions. Wow. Next season they will be there or thereabouts.

Question. Is this Man United team, the best team Ten Hag has coached now? How do you think they stack up next to his two best Ajax teams?
