So, this Rangnick guy won't be staying as a consultant after all, guess its for the best.

Most pointless coach-hiring of the season?

No. Apparently people at Manchester and people around the club like Ralf. He was brought in to identify the flaws of the club from top to bottom.

And apparently, the board really liked his suggestions and reports on the infrastructure.

Ralf was brought in as a Food Critic type basically.

He was supposed to identify the wrongs and suggest a path to the right. Consultant cum interim basically.

Football's Matt Preston!!!:boss:

One doesn't deserve credit just for talking shit about the squad, as he did nothing about it.

If they liked the ideas of Ragnick he should have just been brought in as the SD.

Never had any authority over the players who knew he would be gone from coachs job at end of season and this idea he would clean house was non starter as they had no next coach lined up and nothing to say they would listen to his advice.

Now he lost all credibility in club and nowhere to go but to bin him.

That's what it looks like from the outside. But then there are lots of intricacies in the management of a Football club which we don't really know about. The noises from the club regarding him are positive(as an advisor not as a coach). So much so that they offered him the role of a part time consultant when he already accepted the Austrian NT job. Now, he has rejected that/is leaving.

They have some of our problems. They are richer obviously, but to build you have to clean first and that's a tough job. Their players don't wanna move from their fat salaries. United are paying insane salaries compared to their squad quality. Doesn't matter if you have money if you can't move on overpaid players, and you can't draw in top-tier players.
