Mazz should be the right hire. He may bring the pre-Qatar element of history in that was missing since.. whoever was the last manager to train PSG that actually played for them pre-2010?

Not 100% certain if certain squad members care about this stuff very much, but he's current enough and has good fundamentals. We'll see how he fares ironing out the bad habits in their perceived stars.

If only it was just the "bad habits" of our stars. We have no playstyle, no cohesion. It really seems like we are just putting 11 men on the field and they have to sort out what to do.

Cohesion and star-driven approach don't work well together. Unfortunately, PSG's approach so far has been to sign superstars with great individuality to their game. Can't be surprised that the overall team structure is not very cohesive.

Galactico-model can be great offensively since fans always like technical, flamboyant players putting on a show. But it also creates problems. And all teams of Galactico profile faced them. Madrid, Barca, now PSG.

He's a decent organiser. Takes time is all. PSG is a good place to test if he can get the cohesion in time for the challenging day without being tested all the time, much like he'd have had to in Madrid. If he can push the team to at least as far as Tuchel did who didn't even make them look that good, he'll be the right man for any elite side afterward.

Style can often come from the right person bringing back a bit of club identity. Poch is the first guy since 2010 who may have a story or two from 20 years ago which was the last time pre-Qatar when a few players were prominent in their NT without being hired by a financial juggernaut. Played with Anelka, Okocha, Heinze, Arteta, Pauleta, Ronaldinho... It should be a pretty good experience to be able to call on and not something many of the current players had with a manager who had pretty much only his tactical nous to support himself while managing these celebs. Last man to give anyone in that team this kind of insight into club history would have been who? Blanc? Most players didn't even cross paths with him. And it's no accident PSG were arguably more consistent (tho less talented) when Blanc, Ancelotti and Ibra were there.

Players made a small step beating Atalanta in a key match and went toe-to-toe with the best side in Europe. Talent is there. Both coach who has no experience leading a big side and team who have no experience beating big teams in big matches while coasting to league title could grow together if pieces fall into place at the right pace.

Fuck!!
I wanted Tuchel to stay. Now with Poch we have almost zero chances of going through. He knows the club, he's a good man manager. I can see him being very successful in the Short term. Long term no manager will be successful especially with their galactico policy.
I see Psg going though 5-2on aggregate against us.
I think alot of factors were considered when sacking Tuchel. Lackluster performances, friction with stars and the clubs big figures. Like I said Psg through 5-2

Have to say I am very disappointed by him.

World-class coach, should be the no1 name on any list by any club who aspires to improve. He himself had said many times he is ready for top club and top flight.
And now this??
Going to farmers league to farm every weekend? And on the top of that to have little galactico spoiled kids to babysit?
To be fair he waited some time (more than 1 year). Certain spots should have opened for him right away, but an unlucky steak of questionable decisions like Utd hierarchy showing inexplicable patience and tolerance with Solkskier, Perez respecting Zidane despite him not being the man to rebuild, Barca board being more dump than Barto when he offered him the job before Koeman, made him wait too long

Maybe he got tired of waiting for a big club, but still ...
I don't see how this relationship can flourish. It can actually do the opposite, it can harm him.
Right now he is the hottest name out there. After let's say 2 years without CL semi-final, bad relationship with the team divas, and a sacking after that (not the only scenario of course, but a possibility), that would not be the case anymore

Poch simps are funny.

The guy said he'll rather stay at his farm than manage Barcelona.

It's that simple he ruled himself out of the job

And then he took it back when Barto approached him when Setien was still in charge.
But you missed that.

Plus, all the journo info that he had met with Barto and accepted the job right after Lisbon, only for the board to block the move because of stupid ideological nonsense (like his Espanyol past and these statements)
