For those of you who haven’t heard… Reports are mentioning the possibility of Deco replacing Alemany.

He will be football director, Allemany's replacement

There are rumours that linked us today with Fernando Carro, and there are other ones saying Crujif might be the next one to leave.

I guess we will see how it works out.

Generally, I believe Deco is very competent, and agent turning into GM had been massive success in basketball for example, they essentially does everything an SD does, they negotiate, they must have an eye for talent early on, they assess team and player's fit in it, they build connections through the globe.

But Football director is essentially the professional negotiator of the team, with some football insight. I would prefer someone who is strictly business side in it.

With that being said,Laporta strength has been always recruitment, so let's see what he does and who replaces whom.

Laporta said today that he will join midway this month.

He also confirmed that he will assume same role as Txkiki did back in the day. So he is now the one in charge of the football project.

Now looking at Deco work so far:

As of now, we are linked with some names:

-Gundogan, Inigo Martinez (done deals) both were players we wanted before Deco joining anyway. Older FA in positions of need.

-Fabricio Diaz name gets circulated again. But our interest was during the Crujif/ Alemany time.

-Brozovic (not happening) and Roqu: again were names we had interest at before. Deco has tried to work on Brozo for real though, while he was pushing the board to go for Roque since February.

-Arda Guler, Ivan Fresneda: new names, he is pushing hard for it. Clear Deco choice.

-Oriol Romeu: Another new name, so Deco work? Although it sounds like Xavi choice.

Brazilian talents: We are "following " Estevao Williams, Kauã Elias, Rayan Vitor. Some weak links to Andre Trindad for DM.

Overall some old guard names which is expected in a team with economic issues like ours. But mostly it seems he is leading an "all in" youth strategy.
This sound great and twitter verse will be happy with it, but last time we god SD like that it ended with Gomes, Denis, Paco and Arthur lol 😆.
Hope Deco proves his eye for talent is on point.

Good post. We have to be careful not to be overzealous with potential and the youth movement. Look who Chelsea bought and where they finished.

Or what Abidal signed with names like Malcom and Todibo. Who turned out good players demanding interest from Europes elite, but took 4/5 years to get there, and many a day after their early departure from Barcelona.

To early to say anything about Deco and his work, but I have a good feeling about him being involved in the club.
