Barcelona played a 4-3-3 against AE Prat, the starting lineup being: Ter Stegen, Mingueza, Comas, Umtiti, Balde, Riqui, Pedri, Sergi Roberto, Collado, Luuk de Jong and Coutinho.

Phillippe Coutinho was the best player in the match, and played 60 minutes.

Thursday night football is better than Tuesday/Wednesday anyway. ;)

Also, still unbeaten in the league for at least 48 more hours.

Since we don't get so many ridiculous Messi records every other week anymore, we at least can hold on to getting other kinds of records as long as Koeman stays!

"Barcelona haven't lost back-to-back group games in the Champions League since 2020"

The other week it was the first (?) time Barcelona failed to register a shot on goal in the Champions League, and now it happened again! Against Benfica! This record will surely stand the test of time! What other clubs might have a similar record? Imagine if it goes to three (3) games! Or more!

Not everything is doom and gloom. Depending on what the general assembly will entail there are plenty of reasons for optimism in the immediate future as well.

For starters the financial situation of the club, while serious, is not irreversible. As I recall Laporta presented 1350M+ of gross debt months ago, the net debt according to the information being almost 600M. 481M of loses this season. We can debate the numbers because they are most likely inflated (notwithstanding Bartomeu’s reign of terror and sabotage) as Laporta intends to put all the payments he can in this current season so that he and his board of directors have to guarantee much less money. When he will present benefits next season and a great reduction of the debt, he will be seen as a savior of the club. He already did it in 2003.

Once our financial state improves significantly from next season on, as is expected, the real long-term sporting project can begin with a new manager at the helm, the proclaimed revolution squad wise in terms of ingoing and outgoing transfers, potentially new incorporations in the sporting setup such as for example Overmars etc. For instance I could very well see both ten Hag and Overmars joining the club next season. Or the Xavi option being pursued.

While the current squad is weak compared to the usual standards, it is not as weak as the current results showcase irrespective of Koeman being the wrong manager in charge. The amount of young and promising talents is noteworthy and a case of great optimism although not in isolation as we won’t win much with just youngsters alone.

We are a few (4-5) successful transfers, a new competent manager and the real kickstart of Laporta’s intended sporting project (as ‘projecto Koeman’ is not his own obviously) away from competing again.

Laporta already did a successful rebuilt twice (2003 and 2008) even though the footballing world was quite different back then and the competition smaller but Bar?a will remain Bar?a and world class talents will always want to come as history has shows unless we completely self-destruct.
