The Negreira case

I certainly hope we didn't pay to influence the refs, however I don't understand the official explanation from the club. We paid about 1.6m for services from either 2001 or 2003 to 2018 to get technical reports on what exactly?

Anybody understands what the club was saying?

If we paid for refs we should sue the paid refs for stealing the money and not doing their part.

Worse investment than Coutinho and Ferret.

EV spoke about it and said it is normal practice to get reports about referees. What they prefer, how they treat your team etc.
Then he fired shots, and said he never received it in Barca and though we didn't have them

Serious allegations. We are finished if true.

Don laporta needs to resolve this quickly before our image is in gutter.

Don't rate him as an elite coach, but he was always one of the more classy Barca managers. Honestly a nice man, and that's part of the reason why he doesn't have the personality to manage the likes of Messi, Suarez etc.

There were no shots fired. He is just clueless.

He's got nothing to do with those payments was before his time for sure.

What kind of logic is this?

Messi and Suarez loved Valverde and defended him.

They hated Setien and Koeman

To surprise of absolutely nobody, the payment to Spanish PGMOL is now not 1.7 but 7 million. Without contract, tax-free. Cited to be "Barca's attempt to compete on same terms".

And the main topic of discussion on this forum is whether or not Vinicius mouths off a bit

Go on Javier, keep your "this was a long time ago" argument going

Lol

7 million for consultancy. Doesn't seem that convincing.

On top of Valverde claiming he never received any reports despite that being stated as the service being sold.

This is a bit more dodgy than people are claiming.

If it's a case of foul play, who in their right fucking minds at the club agree to such payment? Hey, let's pay the refs to give us advantages, I'm sure nobody will ever know.

I refuse to believe we've employed people stupid enough to do this. Not only come up with the idea, but to have others agree on it as well.

This is not how that EV comment came across
Was more along lines they could very well exist, but they're not significant. He said he doesnt remember them as never bothered to look at them and that is tantamount to him never knowing whether or not they continued to supply them, or their contents. Let alone how much anyone was being paid and for what. Goes along line of claiming it's just a bunch of stats everyone gets. But what they actually were and how OK this was on grounds of being affiliated with PGMOL with money under the table for the service rather than on books makes it dodgy.
https://en.as.com/soccer/what-ex-ba...-valverde-said-about-the-barcagate-scandal-n/

In best interpretation that last 3 years for which 1.4-1.7 is cited is basically Barto cutting expenses on books again to inflate net profit and it comes out looking like Barca paid PGMOL off books to reassess refs and readjust standards.
And, not to forget, this dates back 17 years, not just the last 3 seasons when Negreira was on the committee.

Barca were paying an active refereeing committee member to supply information and, possibly, to 'maintain balance of decisions'.
Quite embarrassing based on what we know

Seville officially acknowledging it too
Looks a fair concern for Laporta who would have effectively endorsed the practice while presiding since 2003 if it proves true
