Balde and Christensen played vs Villareal, bench vs United, now play again. It's rotation as in avoiding to play the same players every 3 days, especially in positions where you have good squad options like LB for example, where Alba has been rather good lately.

Nope it isnt.

It was tactical.

If rotating to rest players you dont start with one of the most rotated and a CB.

The squad had a week rest before Villarreal game, if intention was rotation then it was stupid decision tbh

Huh? We played the best team vs Villareal. As it was a very intense match for the full 95 mins or so, we rotated 2 players for United game. Hardly anything outrageous.

Nah two players that totally changed the back line and Man Utd immediately targetted.

Rested for what?

Cadiz at home?

No chance.

They weren't rested for Cadiz. They were rotated as to not risk injury, and because Alba was fresher for example and the last game he played vs Sevilla he was among the best players on the field.

Even if was 'rotation' that is arguably even worse.

Play your best defence v Man Utd and rotate today v Cadiz...

Dont rotate v one of best teams have faced all season which allows their best player to target you at the back.

'Rotated due to risk of injury' is pure fantasy.

Do that then watch players who play in more demanding positions play more often go down injured.. top stuff.

Regardless... yes they are being rested to then play v Cadiz as shown. When could have rotated today v inferior team and closer to 2nd leg.

He wanted to avoid putting in youngsters like Balde in 2 back to back tough games in 4 days. Especially since he had Alba who didn't play for a week and was fresher, and was coming of a good game vs Sevilla.

No he didnt.

It was tactical and if he did for reasons you think it is even worse.

Alba was fucking terrible and Man Utd used pace of Rashford on that laft hand side as much as could v Alonso.

Terrible.

It can't be tactical, because Christensen is obviously higher rated by Xavi than Alonso.

You have to look at the first 11 Xavi played in the Clasico in the Supercup as the best 11 value wise in Xavi's head right now. If you don't agree with that you don't know what you're talking about.

The go to team is Kounde - Araujo - Christensen - Balde, Busi - De Jong - Pedri, Gavi - Lewandowski - Dembele. If everyone is fit and rotation is not happening, that's the team he would play.

He didn't prioritize the United game, because the phase of the EL competition is not advanced, not even last 16 really, and the Villareal game was more important.

If he played Alonso and Alba due to fear of Christensen/Balde getting injured that is about worst reason going.

He didnt though. It was tactical and it failed miserably.

You dont hand pick Christensen and Balde to try and protect from injury.

Makes no sense.

He overthought it.

Play best team.. dont rotate in that game for any reason. Tactical or otherwise. Rotate in other games.

Naive again in europe.

It's tactical. Xavi clearly trusts Alonso in Europe. And how could blame him? Alonso has started 6 games in Europe and we have only conceded 13 goals. At CB itself Alonso has started 3 games and we conceded just 7 goals.

But he does pass the ball out smooth as peanut butter atleast, with a left foot. So there's that.

Lol. He did it with Balde because LB position is about the best covered atm in the whole team . If he had more positions with 2 players on good form, he would've rotated more. It's quite clear.

He would've probably rested Pedri also, but didn't trust Roberto.
