I don?t understand this acquisition ? If Balde did not exist, it would have made a lot more sense.

Barcelona were surprised with Alejandro Balde's explosion in pre-season. In fact, if they knew he was that good, they would not have signed Marcos Alonso, but the commitment to sign him already existed. - @Alfremartinezz

Pretty simple

You have an unreliable LB that will deny you winning big games (Alba)

You have a potential future player who cannot guarantee good performance against big team (Balde)

You have a proven veteran in case you plan to win big game (Alonso)

Barca surprised at having a better player at home than some transfer target manager envisioned.

Shame Barca B and youth selections are on another continent so coaching specialists can't see them and assess!!
