Are they unimpressive because they aren't super fast or because they just aren't that high quality? Pedro and David Villa were damn good winger/forwards and they weren't super fast. Also Cristian Tello back in the day was very very fast and he amounted to being a La Liga journeyman. It's about quality

With modern game, you miss one, you don't make it

Maradona was unstoppable 35 years ago
CAM was the most player in 352 in the 90s and early 00s
Sweeper was a big thing 50 years ago
Goalkeepers didn't need good passing 20 years ago

Things change
Football (outside of Barca's world) is moving into athletic-cyborg territory like NBA and American sports. With skills as a cherry on top of athleticism.
Without athleticism, players will usually watch football only from the tv in 10-20 years.

Banned by Barca for four games.

Fair stance to take when trying to get him to stay but cant bend on that really.

Him and his dad dont come across as the brighest.

Selected the 2nd best young players in the world behind emery by NXGN Awards, what does that mean? Absolutely nothing.

But I hope the club gets him signed to a long contract ASAP, so we can see if he'll make it at the very top.

Him being a bit of a rebel is not good, nor bad. We need to see him in preseason with the main team to gain a bit of what he is like, or maybe some saw him in action to give us their opinion.

If he is a slow winger though, odds are are stacked against him big time these days.
