Xavi was ok at the end, clearly not on top level anymore but i would trust old Xavi more to control the ball then our current midfield.

both iniesta and xavi were helpful squad members in their last seasons. just because they werent starters didnt make them dead weight.
in his last season xavi came on as a sub on multiple occasions to regulate game tempo and consolidate victories
iniesta had similarly effective cameos in his last year. look no further than his last game for us. he was excellent in that Copa final and scored a brilliant goal
in contrast the current amigos are like 3 years past the "old but useful as subs" point, and, whats worse, theyre still starters
which is why we are in Europa league and in 6th place or w.e

This is true.
Pique and jordi alba will be replaced next season. Not sure about busquets we aren't linked to any cdms. Not one.

Xavi was bad starter for Barca level for almost 3 years, and actually was costing us when he started early in his last year.
You put Xavi of 2012-2015 in current Barca instead of Busquets and we will be saying same stuff.
Same with 32+ Iniesta.
Only reason they weren't amigo back then, because we had elite team elsewhere carrying them.
As we see with NT, Busquets can be decent if he is surrounded with great team, and they aren't even a team with world class players.
Same with Pique, who can perform in short bursts especially in more defensive schemes.
The current amigo problem is that they are:
1- A group, not just one player.
2-They have no world class team to win trophies for them, there is no prime Messi, Busquets, Neymar, Pique, Suarez to win trophies while they are declined.

when rakitic and to some extent umtiti(pre-injury) were our last good(successful) transfers it tells you all about squad building and why we are in the current situation where we have to play semi-retired players week after week.
we have bought bums for the past 5 years straight.

i couldnt disagree more. xavi was ok 2014-15, so was iniesta.
to say that xavi of 2012-2015 was as bad as busi of today is nonsense. that xavi was part of a team (and a contributor, no less) that was winning ligas and one CL
the same cannot be said of busi.
im not sure why youre so intent on thrashing xavi and iniesta's last couple of years here. they were useful squad members and they didnt stay 4-5 years past their usefulness. there is no comparison whatsoever with alba, busi, and pique.
Xavi had no business with 2014/15 treble. He played well but he wasn't important to the team anymore.
The difference here is Xavi was only squad player in 14/15 while Busi is still a starter. Xavi was with the best team in Europe at that time while Busi is with one of the weakest Barca side. If Xavi 14/15 played as a starter in current team then like Khaled said.
Iniesta was important to the treble.

Busi performance with a good Spanish NT is far better than anything Xavi has showed in his last 3 seasons.
He was a bench player who was forced into starting spot with no shame for 2 years and almost 3 if it wasn't for the classico defeat that saved our season.
Guy was atrocious in that 13/14 season. Just had better team to save his ass.
And that isn't defending Busi btw, who is terrible for the team atm.
