New rules for Ballon d’or voting

•The period taken into account will be that of a season and no longer a year

•Only the representatives of the first 100 countries in the FIFA ranking will vote

•The number 1 criterion will be the individual performances, then the prize

Even though he's a player from our rival, I wouldn't mind if Big Benz wins it.

Any news on when the award is handed out?

And when exactly, does this rule change occur?

It starts this year Morten. Ballon d’or will be awarded in October 2022.

Qatar WC counts for 2023.

So in "normal" world cup years, it will make the Ballon D'or almost solely about the world cup then, if they consider the season done in autumn.

Still, better than this weird calendar-year stuff(which isn't even a calendar year, they end votes about 1-2 months before the year ends) they've been doing since forever

Terrific changes and long overdue

the only thing left to correct the injustices of the past is to retroactively give lewa the 2020 bdor and to strip that fool leo of his ill-gained ones and redistribute to xavi/iniesta and benezema

So between Benzema, KdB, Lewa and maybe Salah depending what happens until June

I don't think Benzema will be in the discussion if RM doesn't win CL.
The other 3 more likely depending on which of their teams wins cL, reaches final, and for the two EPL as well

Well, we aren't winning it, if we are being realistic.

Yes, fun to laugh about PSG, but aside from the fact that they are a mentally frail team, they were better than us in 3 out of 4 halves, and they aren't really on the same level as a team as Liverpool, Chelsea, City or Bayern.

Salah can win. He has a great narrative and people always big up the Prem. Media really warmed up to him this season.

I wonder who'll win if City win the CL. KDB is a class act but no way does he deserve it. He's not even at his best these days.

Benzema has great PR and media love-in at the moment with the "underrated" bollox. But don't see Madrid winning the CL this time so it might be a problem.

These are the only realistic contenders in the new format.
