Is this the end? A new discussion

Recently many things have been said about FC Barcelona no longer being able to maintain its elite status. These problems are often cited:

1) Political presidents prioritizing their stature over the club's long-term health and integrity
2) Financial trouble: we are in debt and are unable to pay for world-class players
3) Lack of discipline: from top to bottom, our club feels more like a country club than a serious sporting institution.
4) Post-Messi anemia: Messi might be the only player of whom it can be said that he was at least as big as the club. Now he's gone and we can't score goals, not even against the Eibars of the world, to save our lives

PS: Local Madridistas, do you relish our current plight? Or do you want us to recover so that we can have a proper rivalry? Even Roncero said that while he doesn't mind seeing Barcelona struggle for a couple of years, Spanish football would be the lesser without the rivalry that defines it.

The end? Hardly. Not at all. We are hitting a new low, with both the expected (the immediate post-Messi effect, finding our feet after a decade of Messidependencia, rebuild) the unexpected (deep financial hole we dug ourselves in) culminating into a perfect storm. Very bad yes, but not the end at all.

Other clubs have had highs and lows, so had we, now it is our turn to have one more, it is just that the task of getting out of the current rut is a very daunting one this time around, given our financial woes at the moment. It will take time and we will be back eventually.

I mean Barca has been going since 1899 and there have been plenty of highs and lows in that time so definitely not the end. Will it be a while before they're top of the footballing pyramid again, quite possibly.

Truthfully, it looks very difficult to see Barca being close to the top of Europe in the next 5 years at least, but a lot of things can change quickly in football. What we really need is a proper scouting system that enables us to pick up gems for very little money.

More Pedri's if you will, so rather than buying world-class players we can scout them before someone else does. Because of the financial trouble, buying 'ready-made' superstars is not viable and is always a risky model anyway.

No this is not. We will make it to the top 4. Just another season.

But rebuild needs to start ASAP. It wont officialy start untill Pique and Bousquets are gone.

well i didnt mean literally the end of the club--only the end of our status as an elite, title winning club.

Yeah. If we're among the top of Europe in under 5 years, that would be some impressive work. Astonishing really. It would mean that both 4-5 youngsters and the signings we make will be big time hits.

Unless there is a golden generation of La Masia coming through, the next 10-20 years could be grim for this club. I expect Madrid to have Bayern like dominance of La Liga for the forseeable future.

Football changes quickly. It's not a linear decline nor a linear ascent.

10-20 year projections are foolish.

No, but if our next moves end up flopping we're likely looking at a Milan-esque 5+ year rebuild to be able to compete for and win major titles.
