Seems like he's negotiating with Morocco NT to stay in Barcelona instead of going to the Tournament.

That would be the smartest move all things considered. Going to the ANC could realize jeopadize this once in a lifetime opportunity of establishing him as a Barcelona first team option. Especially if new signings come and he finds himself down the pecking order come February.

The other point is that the next Cup of Nations is in 2023 where it will be moved to Summer. So more suitable for all parties.

Except the players, expect it to move back to winter asap. (Eto'o the head of Cameroun federation is swearing on it )

I agree that Morocco NT can do without him in this tournament, but also FCB is not stupid enough to disregard him after couple or 3 weeks away. Unless they go to the final and in this case makes him even more attractive for us.

The Moroccan coach after talking to Abde twice said the kid can't wait to play with them, but at the same time the coach can't guarantee he will not be on the bench for most of the tournament.

Gives me bad vibes. He already thinks he's better than he is.

Instead of playing for his home country that called him up for AFCON, that has good chances of winning it, he plays for a country that will give him a couple 1 minute subs and never call him up again.

Hope the kid isn't big headed already because he scored one goal.

Alternatively it could also be fake news from Romero and that is a good possibility as well.

That's not what's happening at all. He wants to play for Morocco, but at this point (rightfully) prioritizes Barcelona. It's a once in a lifetime chance for his career after all. Morocco just needed to show some patience and understanding for his decision and there would have been zero issues.

So where does Spain come into this? Do you think Morocco told him we'll never let you play for us again? In fact, the FA said the exact opposite, that they'll let him gain rhythm for Barca.

He chose to play for Spain. Is what it is.

Not yet, and still has flag of Morocco on his insta and there is nothing out of his mouth yet.
Could very well be a leverage on Morocco NT, their coach is control freak who has "my way or the highway" attitude and already refused to call Zeyesh and Mazraoui because the relation with them is bad.

FIFA allows players to switch nations if they haven't played more than 5 official games for the selected nation.

My prediction is he'll switch back to Morocco in a few years.

Can't believe this NT hype around him still though. He hasn't shown any fantastic quality to be a long promise for Spain. Reminds me of Germany vs. Turkey talents that went around in the 2000's.

Even in Morocco NT he will be a second choice at best, if not a third choice !

The kid said nothing about joining Spain and people are speculating the hell out of nothing !

He has less than 10 games. Best move is to continue cementing his club football career and not breaking his growth.

And internationally wise to try and breakthroigh at the bigger NT first. If that doesnt happen then he can participare in the next Nations Cup in 2 years where he might be at a club like Watford or something.

Exactly. I thought this was good move from him. He has a great opportunity with Barca now. Opportunity he might never have again.

Most important thing is not playing AFCON, this is his opportunity to get himself established at Barca and land a first team spot for next season. Being away in such a critical moment to ride the NT bench could potentially hurt his career a lot.

After that just choose whatever, but it's a bit weird how players make like 2 games and suddenly it's about NTs.

He has Covid that's almost the duration of an AFCON :D

COVID has taken the decision out of his hands anyway. He couldn't go to AFCON even if he wants now.

So let's see who he decides to play for next set of callups.
