Will do my best to give a small profile of each player in the 21-22 Barca B squad as I noticed this section isn't really being updated with new arrivals & there are many departures and arrivals...

For the purposes of this thread I'll mark players with a key to show how likely they are to contribute to the first-team.

 - Candidate for promotion in 22-23+
 - 'Punt', who may not make the first-team but could do in special circumstances
 - Unlikely to make the first-team
❓ - Youngster from Barca's youth categories
➡️ - External signing only meant to help Barca B.

1 - LAZAR CAREVIC

Lazar Carevic is a 22-year-old goalkeeper who arrived here from OFK Grbalj in 2018. In his time at Barca B, he has only recorded 16 appearances and has only been 2nd-choice goalkeeper or even 3rd-choice last season under Garcia Pimienta, with Arnau Tenas and Inaki Pena both sharing the position.

Has seen some playtime in the friendlies whilst Inaki Pena and Arnau Tenas have been away on first-team duty, however with the departure of Neto blocked he will remain backup to Arnau Tenas in this upcoming season with B, his contract expires in 2023.

🔴 - A player unlikely to ever see first-team action and will likely leave Barca when his contract runs out.

2- Guillem Jaime (NEW SIGNING)

EAUAsAUUIAAmLaX.jpg

Guillem Jaime is a 22-year old right-back brought in to start at that position from Nastic as we have no youth candidates currently ready to play in that position with Barca B. He is an 'older' signing brought back to help Barca B as he is a home-grown player and played seasons 18-19 and 19-20 for Barca B. A good-quality signing for the level with experience in Segunda A and B, however he wasn't able to impress at Castellon or Gimnastic and is a signing meant to help out Barca B with little prospects for the first-team

➡️ - External signing meant for Barca B with little chances of first-team action

3 - Igor Gomes

mini_1920x1080-Barca_B-IGOR-GOMES.jpg

Igor Gomes is a 20-year-old centre back who arrived here from Coimbra in 2019 to play for Juvenil A, and was promoted the following season to Barca B.

Igor Gomes had little playing time last season under Garcia Pimienta. He trained with the first-team briefly and played against Nastic in the preseason, however, in recent weeks, rumours suggest the club tried to place him in another First RFEF team due to his lack of ability. His contract runs out in 2022 and is likely going to leave Barca.

4 - Arnau Comas

mini_1920x1080-Barca_B-ARNAU-COMAS.jpg

The captain of BarcaB this season. Arnau Comas is a home-grown player who spent 2019/2020 on loan at Olot before coming back to Barca B and becoming crucial in Garcia Pimienta's plans as Barca B made a play-off push, the most utilised player of Garcia Pimienta with 2,353 minutes last season and one of the stand-outs.

He is an athletic, tall centre-back who is not afraid to make a tackle with good ball carrying skills. He spent preseason with the first-team, travelling to Germany before returning to Barca B after Salzburg in which he made an appearance. A player not quite ready for the first-team yet but who is reported to be liked by Ronald Koeman and his coaches & should be promoted next season or even this season.

🟢 - Likely to be promoted in 22/23 or earlier.

5 - Mika Marmol

Mika Marmol is a versatile 20-year-old left-back who can also fill in at CB. He is a quick player with good ball control who contributes a lot in buildup and ball circulation on the flanks, although he was often used at CB by Garcia Pimienta last season who considered him a key part of his plans.

This summer he was heavily linked to Celtic and it seems he is not on the radar of the first-team, not being called up for pre-season even as names such as Jordi Escobar and Peque Polo were given a run-out against Gimnastic.

Has played 100% of the minutes for Sergi Barjuan so far and is a key part of Barca B for the upcoming season.

🟠 - A 'punt' who could possibly reach the first-team in special circumstances

6 - Nicolas Gonzalez

Nico Gonzalez. If there was any player in Barca B who you would say is odds-on to be promoted, it would be Nico. Starring regularly in the pre-season of the first-team under Ronald Koeman's orders and making two sub appearances in LaLiga, he is very firmly in the first-team dynamics. Koeman and his coaches are very fond of him and he suits the mould of Koeman's desired 'physical midfielder', so much so that he is predicted to have minutes against Bayern Munich in the upcoming CL group-stage at only 19.

Nico is a technically secure, big midfielder that provides a physical presence and can circulate the ball from deep in the midfield. Of course, a key part of Garcia Pimienta's plans last season as he employed him and Jandro Orellana in the midfield.

If Koeman and his staff are on the benches it is a sure thing Nico will be 'promoted' in 22-23 or possibly even earlier, as Koeman really likes the player.

🟢 - Likely to be promoted in 22-23 or earlier.

7 - Gerard 'Peque' Fernandez

june-hyuk-ahn-villarreal-gerard-fernandez-barcelona-2020-1615192690-58297.jpg

Gerard 'Peque' Fernandez is a strange case. The forward, who is a technically adept, smart player that is quick on his feet and can play winger or striker, often found himself on the bench last season in favour of the older Rey Manaj, the top scorer of the subsidiary last year who has moved on to pasteurs new.

'Peque' is very much a fan favourite in Barca B. Despite his limited playtime he has always made the most of the minutes he has gotten, and impressed the fans with eye-catching dribbles. Peque could and should have scored more than 3 goals last season.

Even with Manaj's departure Peque has not found himself with a key role in Barca B this season, as Angel Rodado was signed to replace Manaj with the club not electing to put their trust in Peque. Neither did he do pre-season with the first-team despite Peque Polo and Jordi Escobar, two strikers brought for Barca B this season, seeing playtime and having training with the first-team.

🟠 - A 'punt' who could reach the first-team but does not seem to be on the radar of the coaching staff at Barca B or the first-team.

8 - Alvaro Sanz

E9OjJi2XEAElcFs.jpg

Alvaro Sanz is a right-back converted from defensive midfielder last season. He was initially a defensive midfielder in Juvenil A but after his promotion, was converted to a right-back and has performed well there, playing in that position the whole of the 20/21 season under Garcia Pimienta.

He is strong defensively with an eye for an assist, and in my opinion one of the more underrated players of Barca B. Despite my opinion he is not in the plans of the first-team at all even with our lack of cover at right-back and is probably going to leave Barca in the coming years.

 - Not in the plans of the first-team and could leave in the coming years.

9 - Angel Rodado (NEW SIGNING)

6510-f8cec50c-8b05-48b1-bdaa-d6867febcf09_16-9-aspect-ratio_default_0.jpg

Angel Rodado arrives on loan at Barca B to solve an issue which has plagued the team for years, the striker position.

The 24-year-old arrives to replace top scorer Rey Manaj who was briefly promoted to the first-team and then left the club. He has arrived on an initial loan with an option to buy which the club could trigger if he proves to help the subsidiary with goals and to help the team go up to Segunda A.

He is experienced in Segunda B, having made 94 appearances for UD Ibiza with 29 goals and 1 assist, averaging a goal every 210 minutes at this level. However much is expected of his adaptation as he comes from Ibiza, who play a much more simple and physical style of football than us. He has gotten off to a slow start under Sergi Barjuan at Barca B.

➡️ - An external signing meant to help Barca B who has little chance of reaching the first-team

10 - Lucas De Vega

Lucas-de-Vega.jpg

Lucas De Vega is a 21-year-old homegrown player that plays in the typical 'Number 10' role. A versatile attacking midfielder who can get forward and support the attack and has a lot of progression in his passing.

Since being promoted to Barca B in 2019 he hasn't made much of an impact, going on a mixed spell to Cartagena in Segunda B before coming back under Garcia Pimienta's command and not having continuity due to injuries. For the best part of last year has been strongly linked to Spurs and is another who did not feature in the first-team's preseason, whilst names like Gavi and Nico in midfield did. Looks set to be a rotation player under Sergi Barjuan due to the prominence of Jandro/Nico/Gavi in midfield. Could see more time when the latter two are called up with the first-team on occasion.

🔴 - Unlikely to reach the first-team and could leave after this year.

11 - Nils Mortimer

imago1004204055s.jpg

One of my favourite players in Barca B. Nils Mortimer is a 20-year-old homegrown winger who can play both left and right-wing equally as well. He is a quick, resourceful player that gets involved in final moves easily and is very active in the final third.

Nils didn't play much last season as a result of injuries and the prominence of Konrad and Alex Collado on the wings, but after an impressive preseason where he bagged an assist with the first-team, he looks set for a major role with Sergi Barjuan. Like Arnau Comas, he spent preseason in Germany with the first-team before returning to Barca B before the Gamper trophy.

So far this season has scored Barca B's only goal in 3 games and had another disallowed for offside. All indications are he will have prominence with Barjuan this season. One of the more low-key Barca B players but one with the tools to succeed and the minutes to show his qualities to the technical staff at the Camp Nou.

🟠 - A 'punt' who could make the first-team under special circumstances.

Other than those already with 1st team (Nico & Gavi) this looks underwhelming squad tbh, with very little chance to make it to 1st team from any of them
