PSG still convince people they might win the CL though that?s the crazy thing and if Messi and Mbappe are still there in August, the same thing will be said again. I don?t know if that was more out of hope because Messi is there but still, they never look close to a team capable.

The year they got to the final, their route was Dortmund, Atalanta and Leipzig. It took two goals in the 90th minute to scape past Atalanta. I honestly think the first couple years into the QSG project did they look the most threatening.

It?s just a club that lacks any real direction or identity. Crazy thing is, Paris itself is probably home to some of the worlds great young talents who end up playing elsewhere because a mega money signing comes in instead.

The mad dog makes a barrel roll and turns 180 after admitting defeat and Birdy feels good while being in the same opinion with two of the biggest trolls in the forum.
K, we got it. You like pressing players, Messi won't press for PSG. Even if he did, verrati gifted two goals while unpressed.
No point discussing with trolls in this thread. In Messi's view, Football was completed in December, for all Barca fans.

What Muller says makes sense. For a team like Bayern, they see so many opportunities to exploit when opposing an ageing Messi. Of course he can hurt you if he gets the ball, but with incrisingly diminishing returns.

It is like Tyson Fury looking at Deontay Wilder. He see's the blueprint there, but of course he has to avoid the special weapon which could flatten him.

What’s even the point of shitting on Messi? We get it, he’s almost fucking 36 year old, no one is calling him the greatest right now, everyone knows that he cannot lead a team to CL aged 36, unless there is a really competent team around him that can maximize his ability and hide his shortcomings (e.g. Argentina).

In that case, he can shine and make the difference. Of course his motivation at this age and after completing football is a question, but you cannot blame him.

Anyone thinking that 36 year old Messi can dribble past 4-5 players like in the past or press like crazy for the whole season is delusional and creating a false argument just to make a fuss.

The curious question is why the so called “Barca fans” are constantly waiting for the opportunity to shit on our greatest legend ever? Yes his wages were immense the last years if his career at Barca, but this is far from the reason of our shortcomings. You cannot stay at the top forever, Barca had a fantastic run between 2006 and 2015 and then the board failed to strengthen the team and promote an evolution of our style. Even if Messi was holding the board on gun point as some of you claim (the same board which is proven that was corrupt af), even then the board was incompetent and were held hostage from the players. They should have sold Rakitic, Suarez and Busquets in 2018 at the latest etc.

But look how we fare now with a new board, without Messi and with a young bunch of players. Back to back eliminations in the CL group stages and back to back EL eliminations. The truth is that we still pay the toll of the actions of Bartomeu starting from 2016 or so. Every year we have sunk even lower. And in a world of fierce competition, we still try to build ourselves up.

The thing is that some of the Barca “fans” take all their frustration out on Messi…or they are just trolling.

All football legends were done at club level at their early 30s, Messi has managed to keep a high level for a little longer. He proved that he can be decisive for short periods of time, even now, by winning the WC. But what the fuck have other legends done at this age?

Pele was close to retirement, playing in the MLS. His last great achievement was the 1970 WC, aged 30. He did not even win the brazilian league after he was 28.

Maradona’s last major title was the 1990 Serie A, aged 30. He was already a shadow of his former self in the 1990 WC and was driven out of Napoli in 1991. Imagine the backlash he would receive today..

Cruyff left Barca aged 31, R9 and Ronaldinho were done before even turning 30, Zidane’s last major club title was the 2002 CL playing in the Galacticos aged 30. You see the pattern.

The only comparison to Leo is CR7 who was lucky enough to play in one of the most talented and well developed and coached teams of the last decades as soon as he turned 30. Of course he was dedicated af and was a very big reason for winning the 4 CLs, but of course it is the truth that he was playing in a great team. As soon as he left, he faced embarrassing CL exits with Juventus.

Messi of course also played in great teams when he won the CL.

But to the people point out their CL KO goal record:

Look at the actual, factual help they got in the CL. Even the “greatest team of all time” would do fuck all without Messi in the CL. He scored twice to barely qualify vs Arsenal, he scored twice in the Bernabeu in the semis and scored the crucial goal in the final. In 2015 he unlocked the Bayern defence and sealed the tie.

On the other hand, CR had the luxury of teammates taking over when he was off. In 2014 he was fantastic but in the final he was a ghost and had to be saved from Ramos’ goal, only to score a Penaldo after the game was finished. In 2016 and 2018 he scored a grand total of 0 of the total 10 goals Real scored in the semis and finals.

Between the HGH, Ovrebo 2009, Negreira scandal, extra copas added, and Qatar's rigged political WC, there's a Bobby Bacala sized asterisk next to much of Messi's alleged achievements.
