barcacentre.ig All requests according to El Mundo, summarized below

 Three more seasons, until 2023.
A private box at the Camp Nou for his own family and that of Su?rez.
 A €10m renewal bonus.
Elimination of his release clause, a symbolic one would remain.
Recovering the wage cuts during the pandemic with a 3% interest-rate.
A private plane for the whole family during Christmas.
In the event of a tax increase, the club would take responsibility.
The continuity of Pepe Costa, his personal assistant.
Commission paid to his brother Rodrigo, at the time representative of Ansu Fati.

Bar?a agreed to all requests, apart from two: the removal of his release clause, and the signing bonus of €10m. That's when Messi's camp broke negotiations.

A year later, when Laporta had just become the club's President, they refused to agree with the mentioned terms, too.

Perhaps Messi's camp then modified his requests, given the fact that an agreement over a new deal was reached eventually before La Liga said 'no' to that.

Absolutely ridiculous requests if true...

Good that he went to QSG, a state that can fulfill these and even more embarrassing requests

Was always bizarre how he was dirt cheap (relative to his abilities) during his prime days under Pep and early Lucho, but when he was clearly declining (especially post 2019), the guy wanted outrageous contracts.

One of the few points I really hold against him.

Is it really that ridiculous ask? 10mil signing bonus isn't that much for him. A lot depends on his salary demands.

I assume most of the players have some demands like this. (star players)

What a shameless liar lol. In the interview where he confirmed he was staying after the transfer saga, he claimed that he had been telling Bartomeu and the club all year that he wanted to leave.

Now it turns out that he and his team were making all these demands for a renewal just weeks earlier.

Not necessarily

It's international break

Gotta make news up

Pique or the board probably leaked the documents. The demands aren't that outrageous. 10 million is nothing. We spent about half a billion on bums who don't come close to Messi.

Biggest factor is what his wage demands were. Everything else is irrelevant in comparison. Big difference between demanding 100m gross + bonuses, and 25m gross + bonuses.

things have to even out eventually. was the best deal ever that we got for free basically, even when considering the wages, commissions and everything we paid him while here.

even if we paid 1.5B for him(which surely is not true), if you spread it over 20 years then it would mean we paid 75M a season to have him. i think it is something like 50M a season though. guaranteed that any club in the world would take that deal right now.

it's not like he wasn't best in the world in 2019. and contract was signed in 2017. he was in his prime back then. also, market evolved with time. neymar move and all clubs getting much more money than when messi was 24.

You're welcome

You're going through impressive mental hoops to justify the fact Messi cleaned the club out. Even willing to turn to Spiritualism. "Things have to even itself out"? come on.

yeah, cleaned the club out while making it the best in the world, with the biggest revenue.

not going to deny he got huge salaries, but i'm fine with the return. ROI is all that matters in business. and we got a very good return.

FDJ be cleaning the club out for 4 seasons now, while doing jack shit. griezmann, dembele, coutinho or 4 years of messi?
