Suarez is nowhere near Messi at this age and Neymar the argument would be he declined in 20s compared to Messi at 34.

Hardly any great stick to hit Messi with.

What does age have to do with this?

Messi's .43 goals per game ratio with Argentina is from his prime 2009-2019.

Neymar and Suarez both have higher career ratios.

The point isn't that Neymar and Suarez would do better at 34 but that Messi in his prime outside of Barcelona with Argentina was not a GOAT level scorer.

No idea what point you are even trying to make.

Seems like some bizarre search for arguments.

Nah, the argument just evolved into whether Messi's not being the same for PSG was solely due to age.

I bring up these Argentina numbers because they show that Messi in his prime was also not nearly as good away from Barcelona based on his NT form.

Aguero scored 25 PL goals under Mancini.

Rassvet wants us to believe prime Messi is Aguero level in the mighty EPL of 11/12.

There's trolling and there's this

No one claims Messi has scored same amount of goals for Argetina as has for Barca and not some revelation that impacts his standing as the goat.

For Argentina he is their all time top scorer, top for assists, played in five intl finals winning one as player of tournament, winning award as best player at World Cup, Olympic Gold etc.

He has done fine.

Zlatan scored 38 goals as a 34 year old for PSG while Messi has 6.

"But that's just due to age"

Fine, then we can note that Suarez had a better career scoring ratio with Uruguay than Messi in his prime did with Argentina.

25 isn't a low number. Reflects Messi being a very good but not GOAT level scorer outside of Barcelona.

Yet no one will give a fuck about that when discussing the goat and will be irrelevant.

Messi probably wont even be playing by time in his 40s and Zlatan is.

These numbers will be considered for what it is.. Messi past his peak and playing a different role.

Literally what the FUCK is the POINT of this line of argument?

Ok fine let's concede that Messi could only succeed in Barcelona's "system" (even though there were a variety of styles of play throughout his tenure and he excelled regardless but let's ignore that)

SO WHAT?

It's not like there's some catalan cosmic controller pulling the strings on Messi whenever he's wearing a Barcelona jersey. It's still HIM, INDIVIDUALLY, PUTTING OUT CONSISTENT WORLD CLASS performances throughout an almost 13 year period. It's still messi dribbling past 5 Real Madrid players and scoring a solo goal in a CL semi final. It's still Messi scoring 50 goals or so every fucking year.

It's literally the dumbest fucking anti-Messi argument there is. I just don't get it.

It's like arguing that ok sure Einstein may have been a historical genetic freak in regards to his intelligence, but if he was never born to a decent family in a decent country and had access to quality education then he would've never achieved what he achieved.

But so what. He was born to a decent family, he was born in a good country, and he did have access to a good education. That doesn't change or diminish the fact that his inherent talent was immense nor does it take away from his achievements.

Like literally the whole point of your argument is that, oh oh...a talented person heavily benefited from all the good infrastructure surrounding him (in this case sporting infrastructure), like it would benefit literally every type of person on earth.

I mean, duh?

Once again, so what?

Seriously shut the fuck up with this shit.

Long rant to say so little. Some players are more adaptable than others. It's not the only thing that counts but is a factor.

I don't think Busi is the most adapatable player ever but still consider him GOAT DM at least in recent history.

Messi not being the most adaptable player doesn't take away from what he achieved or mean he can't be GOAT but is a factor to be noted, especially when he is compared with Ronaldo who is on the other end when it comes to adaptability and the narrative around Messi over recent years has been that Barca was holding him back if anything.

No one will look back on Messi and see his time at this stage as anything else but him in his latter years having move to a new team playing a new role.

Only morons will think it is some kind of evidence he would have struggled away from Barca.

blah blah blah

Literally one of the fastest forwards in Europe for years, the best dribbler in Europe for over a decade, the best finisher in Europe for over a decade, with the core strength to fight off defenders twice his size...played and excelled in a multitude roles from wide forward, right winger, false 9 to a free roaming no. 10 would've struggled to adapt if he played in another team besides Barcelona.

And how do I justify this assertion?

The fact that he moved away from Barcelona at the end of his career already far ahead in his physical decline, and of course by citing the slowest, least agile and physical midfielder in Europe Sergio Busquets.

Man you're fucking stupid.

Honestly don't know why you cunts aren't banned yet.

Can't believe people are arguing with Rassvet if Messi is the GOAT or not for over 200 pages. On the other side you have meaningless pools from Messigician in order to increase number of posts. Unfortunately this forum was once a place you could actually talk seriously about football, players and FC Barcelona. Too bad Bojan and others allowed this forum turn into an utter shit. :puke:

Your entire "point" falls apart when CR has had a "meh" career at international level compared to club, much like Messi.

Ronaldo was adaptable, certainly, but you are overselling it.

Its just that they were both surrounded by better squads and manangers at club level, thats the difference.

34 year old Zlatan had 38 goals and 13 assists in 13 games

One knee Falcao over 20 goals

Ben Yedder over 20 goals in all of his seasons

And people here wanna defend 6 goals in farmers league lol

Everyone here was clowning French league when Neymar moved there saying he lost relevance and that his goals meant nothing and that Messi would score 80 goals a season there
