Messi was considered GOAT tier way back under the Pep days...he was the one who was compared with Pele and Maradona.

CR7 was never considered a serious GOAT tier until those RM CLs. And even still, he's always been compared to Messi, not Maradona or Pele. The national trophies had little to do with it really.

To me, the hierarchy is pretty clear. If you combine resume (trophies, individual and team), peak level and skill level, it's:

Tier 1: Maradona, Messi, Pele in whichever order
Tier 1.5: Cruyff, CR7, Beckenbauer, DiStefano, in whichever order

i mean, were talking about the very freaking best ever. this is not a bad category nor group of players to be bunched in with

Never said otherwise. I have him in my top 5 all time.

EDIT: I agree R9 > ZZ and Platini but I think Platini's Euro 84 peak (9 goals?), Juve CL win, and the fact that he was so dominant in Ballon D'Or (3 in a row?) puts him slightly ahead of ZZ . ZZ was one of the main men but not THE reason France won 98.

Mbappe missed two perfect 1vs1 chances

Neymar is able to play clever passes but his dribbling is dead

Ramos has been good, gives them defense stability and can play nice long balls
