The UEFA Europa Conference League (abbreviated as UECL), colloquially referred to as the UEFA Conference League, will be an annual football club competition organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for eligible European football clubs.[1] Clubs qualify for the competition based on their performance in their national leagues and cup competitions. It is the third tier of European club football, after the Champions League and the Europa League.

Introduced for the 2021?22 season, the league will serve as the bottom level of the existing UEFA Europa League competition, which was reduced from 48 to 32 teams in the group stage. The competition will primarily be contested by teams from lower-ranked UEFA member associations.[1] No teams qualify directly to the group stage, with 10 teams eliminated in the Europa League play-offs and the rest coming from the Europa Conference League qualifiers. The winners of the competition are awarded a position in the Europa League the following season, unless they qualify for the Champions League.[2]

I think this is a fun tournament based on the qualifiers. A number of upsets already and great representation for smaller clubs from weaker nations. The third qualifying round starts this week, but the play-off draw is already out.

Lol Tottenham

Dont understand why UECL winner isn't included in the CL or at least a CL qualifier really

Tottenham should kill this

I like the idea and lowering the team amount in Europe League. Way too many random teams.

Qualifier at most then. Would be unfair to get a direct spot in CL like the EL winner while playing in a competition with much worse teams.

Probably. But don't think it'd be a massive problem since most teams go for prize money from better league spots anyway and winning the comp is very tough. Seeded spot in pot 4 seems alright on optics, but they'd never actually do it.

Otherwise seeded 3rd round qualifier and guaranteed spot in EL minimum. Whole thing makes no sense without it since prize money for group stages of EL isn't great anyway, even on scale for smaller teams.

Mou will pull his usual defensive masterclass-disasterclass, which will be good enough to win against Feyenoord

You're welcome
I am hyped. Will be rooting for feyenoord obviously but will be an enjoyable match overall and approach it almost as a neutral football fan.
