Fabregas and Alexis were not even close to flops they just didnt fit in 100% to way Barca played but were both still decent/good players in time at club.

Both of them were signed for fees relatively low for them at the time also as only wanted Barca.

exactly! people just want to get on the laporta hype train, but forget that most of the big deals were done by rosell. even though that meant barcelona lost this aura of mes que un club, he definitely steered the club on the current path of globalization and squeezing money out of everything, which every big club does.

Rosell is also the reason FC Barcelona is the only or one of the few major clubs in the World convicted for tax fraud.

Alexis and Cesc lol, those were the times.

Talented players who were brought in with high hopes. They got their chances, didn't work out and was then sold for a great amount of money.

16m profit on Alexis, 1m loss on Cesc. Great deals IMO, even if the players didn't succeed, the transfers were great on paper.

Rosell did well playing an integral role in signing Ronaldinho and Deco, but also wanted to hire Scolari instead of Rijkaard. Made a deal with the prosecution in the Neymar case so that he and Bartomeu walked away scot-free while the club got convicted of tax fraud, played a role in corrupting the different institutions of the club just because he hated the previous board because of a personal grudge for Laporta.

The fact that we have people defending him in 2021 is funny.

i am not defending him, just stating facts. how did he walk when he went to prison first?

Barca like just about every club in same situation paid a settlement for the tax issue. I dont think the club did get convicted as it was settled but may be wrong.

Not quite the dramatic scenario of throwing club under bus as was made out.

They fucked up by thinking being too clever too try and hold up Neymar signing for as cheap as possible when focusing on trying to make it something they could point to when couldnt on trophies as a comparison.

and yet rosell was laporta's right hand man and had a strong influence in bringing ronaldinho to camp nou. he was also quite savvy when it came to commercial deals. sure, he pinched a couple of millions from that neymar transfer, but otherwise the transfers made during his reign were pretty good:
Neymar
Cesc Fabregas
Alexis Sanchez
Javier Mascherano
Alex Song
Jordi Alba
Adriano

basically he laid the foundation for us to become the biggest club in terms of revenue.

Song was a terrible buy, and Neymar was a strategically dubious step at the time and also a bad affair, even though he was a great player for the club.

The other signings you list there were perfect buys pretty much, you are right.

apart from the lying and wrongdoing, we got the next best thing after messi/cronaldo. plus we made a profit when psg bought him. plus we won a treble with him.

Different case, not related the one I'm talking about.

Exonerating themselves instead of the club is still shameful even though I can understand why they did it.

For self-proclaimed business geniuses they certainly put the club under a lot of trouble.

Besides, it's tough to be a President at Barca and not do something good. Even Bartomeu made a couple of good deals, signings and business-wise.

You need to look at the overall picture and that's where Rosell & Bartomeu let the rot set in.

Not quite what happened. They didnt exonerate themselves at expense of club. They like virtually every other club in same situation settled the tax case and as part of settlement it is standard that issue is finished and cant then also go after individuals.

They fucked up and like many at time thought they were being too clever to beat the tax system which was common arrogant belief at time.

Not that two wrongs make a right but Real offered same deal. Both thought they were beating the system.
