Anyway, which one is the high quality midfielder that Masia products in recent years???
Noted: High quality means already proven at top level, not just potential but not proven.

That's because he realized he made a big error. Unfortunately, we were 0-2 down already.

Yip he did and Malcolm was taken on to play RW as he had been chosen to play RW multiple times throughout the season if Messi missing and ahead of Roberto.

Malcolm was given plenty chances by EV and bar Real game always played again when scored assisted.

Chosing the approach in final and Roberto at RW was not even close to the norm that season and Malcolm was given chance in the game at HT and got zero blame for defeat.

You are trying hardest to focus on one game and ignore how that season went for him by and large and why did not play more.

Yea, he was given some minor chances. Mostly when one or both Messi and Suarez were rested, suspended or injured. Very very rarely. And in the few chances he got, he was great in the Clasico, scored a nice goal, and owned Marcelo all night. Under different circumstances, and a better manager, Malcom transfer pans out differently for us.

A game that none wanted to play anymore due to that loss at Anfield.
Malcom is not even that good. I don't understand why some still think he has Ronaldinho's potential. He is just a panic signing from Bartomeu who wanted to revenge Roma. Valverde didn't knew anything about him at all when Malcom arrived. He was never needed in the first place. And his highest peak at Barca is scoring a goal in El Clasico. Good but Jenfren also did it. Pep must ruined his talent.

That could be what you hope for. You're basing such claims on a rather small sample while ignoring the bigger one.

i) him being disappointing in other games for Barca
ii) him failing to make an impact in his career after leaving Barca

He was good in classico... but as I told you he was never going to play RW ahead of the returning Messi after those games.

Was given more then 'minor chances' and always played minutes after scored/assisted.

Would not have worked out differently under another manager. Malcolm was too limited for what Barca needed. Would not play enough in one position he could play as Messi there, were offeref 50m for him and he took up non EU slot.

Could just as easily claim under another manager he plays les for Barca.

Cool. So now he is under different circumstances, why doesn't he turn out to be a player you expected???

He was not disappointing except when the team had many subs playing at the same time and lacked chemistry. He was good, or even a standout against some notable opponents, like Inter (great goal), Espanyol (assist in a hard fought 2-0 win) Real Madrid (nice goal), Valencia (top game), Atletico (good game), Villareal away (goal and assist).

He didn't play because he was playing RW and EV never dared to rest Messi or Suarez since he always lacked the courage to make his own decisions in front of the power figures of the locker-room. This was always his problem.

Was poor more often than was good and dont use excuse of 'in a team with many changes' as reason played poorly then point to games against Inter etc when scored in such a game.

You act like EV was wrong to play Messi and Suarez ahead of Malcom.... he wasnt.

Malcom was just not good like you claimed. The only good match he played is vs Real Madrid.

The funny thing is when the years go by and watching Moriba play I sort of understand where Lucho was going with the Gumbau experiment and why he decided to use him more than Samper at one point.

Gumbau was tall and had the physicality but was painfully limited in many ways that he just couldn't make it here but the idea was having a CM with those attributes while also being competent with the ball and being tactically disciplined to help shore up the Midfield in the later stages of the game.

Keita was that guy who fit the mold but that was many years ago.

Now if Malcom is really a fantastic talent, you really think that just one season that he wasn't used much at Barca can ruin his entire career??? Because of it so he fails in Russia and Brazil national team never call him up??? If so, he is a mediocre talent. A good game vs Madrid will not do anything. Semedo also had a good game vs Madrid btw.
And He is just 24. Are you going to tell me he already passed his peak so he fails in Russia???

You've just listed all the concrete contributions he's made for Barca (skipped the goal against Cultural Leonesa, btw., add on the list) and tried to excuse his poor form on the team selections lacking chemistry. He did score some nice goals and had good games, but from what I remember was rather poor more often than not. Open his thread and refresh your memory if must be.

I have seen a tweet saying that we ignored better talents than the ones that are currently given a chance.

Talents still at LaMasia or who have left?

Mateu Morey, Adrian Bernabe, Pablo Moreno, Xavi Simons
Robert Navarro, Dani Olmo.

The only one that we ignored and turned out good was Dani Olmo. He would probably be starting for us ahead in of Pedri.

The rest are not better than what we have. Bernabe was super hyped and has good numbers in the City reserves.

Robert Navarro is doing well in Sociedad B team and with a contract up in 2022 could be an option to bring back next year.

And they all left for greener pastures, not being ignored.
